Myers in his rookie season was a legit top pairing guy. Right now he's a top four guy with potential to grow. Not a slam, but he's not a top pairing guy unless it's a bottom third team. - Isles_since_6
this.
he was phenomenal his rookie year.
but he regressed. even if he is turning it around and playing well again, theres still too many question marks.
he'd bring back a solid package no doubt, but lets be realistic.
or if ur not, then u can keep him.... |

IMO he is. He's stuck on our team, that's the sole reason he's viewed in the negative way he is.
If he played for most other teams, he would be getting praise for his play. |

sure. dont trade him
and im sure that it is teams inquiring to see what the sabres want for myers. but this still doesnt mean they set the market.
the market is what someone is willing to pay, not what the sabres think hes worth.
u know i like myers, been interested in him for ages. but it think theres a huge disconnect in who he currently is to outsiders and who he is to sabres faithful.
he is NOT oel or mcdonagh, hes not worth near what those guys would garner.
ive heard the sabre fans say eberle +....this is ludicuous imo, and u just wouldnt get it - hugefemale dog77
People are asking for myers bcz next year his ntc kicks in. Eberle is a first line player but he's not dominant. I want a dominant foward or potential dominant foward, like Mantha or nichuskin, if I'm gonna move myers. Plus with zadorov and grigorenko we will feel safe to trade for a Russian. If we can't get 1 I am happy with myers staying for the duration of his contract. I only move him if I get something I covet |

I don't buy the logic in moving Myers right now. Not without seeing how good the Sabres defensive prospects turn out first. IMO the rumors are teams calling the Sabres inquiring about Myers, not the other way around - sbroads24
When you get a new team linked to trade rumors on the same player every week, he's being shopped. When the market isn't as high as you want it to be, you leak a bunch of rumors to try to create a bidding war. This is all standard stuff. Buffalo wants to trade Myers. They don't hate him, they'll keep him if they don't get their big bag of loot for him, but they really would rather have a big bag of loot than him. |

No it's bcz his NTC kicks in next season and then he is off the market for 5 years. |

Well, I guess since you have all the info, keep us updated.
Our GM publicly stated that Myers was a guy that the team was moving forward with. He also said that he wouldn't have moved him for a top 10 pick in this past draft. So again, there is absolute no rush in moving him, and the only way they do is if someone over pays. |

What is the market for a former calder winning 6'8 24 year old defensemen? Because to me at least there is only one that might be "available" - sbroads24
Apparently not "your best prospect, and another prospect, and 1st round picks."
Probably closer to what the going rate has been in the last few years, "a good prospect, roster player, and pick(s)." |

Somehow, I don't think it will be very hard to get Myers to waive a NTC and leave Buffalo. |

How does that mean he's off the market for 5 years? Players get traded all the time with no trade clauses. I don't think it would be hard to convince just about any player with a NTC to leave a bottom feeder. |

1 I don't think we want to trade myers. Only for something we covet. And yes it is harder to trade a guy on a NTC |

Of course it's harder but it doesn't mean that player is off the market for the duration of their contract |

To be perfectly honest i think if Myers was on almost any other team (Mtl, Tampa, Chicago, Dalls, Minny etc etc) he'd be considered a top pairing defensman who nobody would trade for a prospect.
I know its impossible to say whether thats true but i get why Buf is asking for what they are. I think if the situations were reversed Dallas wouldnt trade myers for Nichuskin. Complete guess but i think he'd excel with some more structure and offense. |

makes it really hard to know how he's going to play on another team. I just don't look at a lot of teams and immediately think myers should play in their top pairing. Definitely top four and he's got room to improve, but I don't see him as a top two defenseman. |

Same. Myers is a top 4, but he's not a dominant top pairing guy. If I'm dealing ebs +, I want a guy that can step I'm an dominate at both ends of the ice. Not one with zero points and question marks
Imo, at present, ebs is more of a sure thing than myers |

Agreed.
He's a really good player right now. He wont put up numbers on this team. |

I dont think any defender would put up many points on this team...even karlsson would have trouble scoring on Buffalo |
