Also I really enjoyed watching the Habs stick it to the Rags last night. Price was on. I hope they continue with that. Oiler fans will get an opp to see Emelin tomorrow night, they can judge for themselves. I'm thinking Hall will hustle him hard. - Pie

&&&& more news out of Tampa: Keep an eye on the unfolding situation with the Tampa Bay Rays. The story comes from Bill Madden of the New York Daily News, who cited MLB sources in reporting that Rays owner Stuart Sternberg has contacted wealthy Wall St. associates about moving the Rays to Montreal.
Sternberg had already lost GM Andrew Friedman and Joe Maddon, perhaps the most respected skipper in baseball, added fuel to the fire when he announced Friday that he also was leaving the Rays, making him the most sought-after free agent in the post-season.
All this comes in the wake of Bud Selig Jr. giving his blessing to the return of baseball to Montreal before he stepped down as commissioner, something Selig would not have done had he not felt it was a strong possibility.
And as one MLB official told the Daily News: “Say what you will about Montreal, but the Expos drew well over two million fans four times there in their heyday, while the Rays did that only once, their first year.”
The personable Sternberg, by all accounts, is the anti-Jeffrey Loria, a good guy who has hung in with the disastrous situation in Tampa as long as an owner can be expected to wait. There’s no sign of improvement in economically depressed Tampa, no reason to believe the Rays will get a new stadium — and now they’ve lost Maddon, who was tired of playing Felipe Alou’s role, developing one young star after another only to lose them all to richer teams.
Having Sternberg move the team north removes half the expense of acquiring one — and if he and his partners are willing to share some of the cost of a new ballpark in Montreal, it makes the project that much more feasible.
The Big O would serve as a home for the club for two or three seasons, a workable plan as long as a new ballpark is on the way. Given the fervour for baseball demonstrated when the Blue Jays were in town last spring, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a reborn club could once again draw 2 million fans to the Big O, assuming a way could be found to work around the plan to put a new roof on the stadium.
We should make it clear that the Rays move to Montreal is the farthest thing from a done deal — but Sternberg’s desire to get out of Tampa makes it much more likely that it will happen. That means Major League Baseball could conceivably be back in Montreal as soon as the 2015 season — 10 years after the late, much-lamented Expos played their first game as the Washington Nationals. |

If this is true, I don't see it happening as soon as next season. |

And you would be right.
Tampa has a long term lease I believe and no chance they put a team in the concrete monstrosity in Montreal. |

They were talking about it the other day and it is apparently a very long lease. Like you say it can likely be bought out at some large number. |

Cardinals top prospect Oscar Taveras was killed in a car accident in the Dominican Republic. He was just 22 years old. |

11 in 6 for McCarron. Take that French.
I trust he'll see this as the very mention of an underachieving prospect seems to summon him from the depths. |
