Eriksson was a 70 point player. I mean, bad trade but a lot closer to justifiable. - JohnFergusonJr
Don't forget Reilly Smith. |

Yup, 20 goals and 50 points last year. Good Mimico boy (expect Shanahan to try to wrangle him in ASAP).
Still stupid to trade Seguin though. |

I agree going after older players isn't a good idea.
However, I don't think dropping for a lottery pick is a good idea. Buffalo, carolina, florida, are way worse already. It would be a waste and it's a waste of JvR and Kessel for a year. - Aaron_85
Dropping lower can also enhance your chance at picking first. There are a number of great players, in the top 7 or 8. I'd move the over 25's, if the price is right. |

The Bruins where trying to win now. They needed more depth and Seguin was playing 3rd line minutes behind Bergeron and Kreci. The Bruins went for depth on the wings, in hope of winning another Cup. That's when you should be moving young talent, for proven players, not when you're a non playoff team and your core is not playoff calibre.

Biggs scored 26 goals with the OHL’s Oshawa Generals before joining the Toronto Marlies last season, but his offensive success in Junior did not translate in his first professional season(7 G, 2 A in 57 games with the Marlies).
Mike I think you need to re-examine the definition of "offensive" and "success." That year he had at 20 in the OHL was rubbish beyond belief, especially in the playoffs. |

Seguin was a proven player and he was playing beside Bergeron but under performed during one playoff run. If they just got Iginla and put them together, it would have solved both their problems at once. They moved him because he was acting like any other 20 year old kid millionaire. |

I can't believe they gave up on the kid. Not many ppg guys like him that young in the league. |

FRANK the leafs really need to draft Eichel or McDavid. It would solve all our problems...
- tml123
The Leafs will finish just high enough to not have a chance on those two and end up drafting another small, soft euro. |

I get what you are saying... but we all know that the Leafs defense as it currently is "setup" is a major area of weakness. Given that how bad could it be to jettison one or two who return something useful and see how it goes. Percy certainly (limited sample size) hasn't been bad, not even close to the worst performer. |
