Someone should make a documentary on the Oilers rebuild, I'd watch the poop out of that. - TheJerseyDevil1
The oilers only wish they had what the devils have.. A gigantic golden horseshoe up their butts. I have no (frank)ing clue how the devils aren't one of the worst teams in the league. No matter who they trade, or who decides to goto Russia they still put quality teams on the ice. The management in NJ is unbelievable to be able to do what they do. I'd watch a doc on exactly how they manage to do it.
And I know your talking about "oil change".. |

No worries whatsoever...Eakins and Ference will take the boys out for a nice brisk jog at 430am.
The leadership on this team is non existent.
I would give Messier a shot at coaching the team at this point perhaps, and bring in ONE guy that can actually lead a group of men onto the fkn ice.
anyway...still an Oilers fan over here. |

I wonder why the same thing about us Leaf fans! Why do we keep coming back for more? The Leafs like to make us think they finally turned a page and us fans get all excited and in the last 6 weeks of the season they drop a big deuce and poop the bed until they fall out of the playoff race and further torturing the fan base for another year!
I'm not sure what kind of failure is worse? The way the Leafs do it or the Oilers! Cheering for the Leafs is like constantly being one number short every time you play the lottery....agonizing.....at least with the Oilers....you know what you got right from the start of each season.......! Being a fan of any Canadian hockey team is down right frustrating these days! |

we never get any recognition but the Devils remind me a lot of the Patriots if you follow American football. they try to stay out of the press and keep everything in house. |

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I'm willing to bet my salary that the Devils will win another cup within the next decade. Lou is a hockey genius. Greatest mind in hockey imo. |

How many 1st overall picks do you need not to suck? - deadpoulet
They don't all have to be 1st overall. Some can be 3rd overall like Draisaitl or 7th overall like Nurse. But they definitely all need to be top 10's. So 23 top 10 picks and then we start planning the parade |

Being a leafs fan is like being a practising member of whatever the dominant religion is in your area. It's all about faith baby. There's no doubt in my mind that if the Leafs win a cup it would be the best moment of my life, and for a million other people.. That's the equivalent of Jesus coming back for Christians. |

Some guys would be retired by the time some of these guys get picked
So no, you won't be planning a parade in Edmonton with that logic |

I'm not an Oiler fan at all, but come on we both know L.A. is much better suited to deal with those type of injuries and were still heavily favoured to win this game by multiple goals. - Nucker101
That's fine and well, but using an injury excuse when we're facing the same problem is.. I don't know what to call it. |

Why? We can have all the top 10s we want just gotta trade the rest of the roster away to do it |

From the looks of things, McDavid is going to the Canes and Eichel to the Sabres. |

not sure edm has what it takes to lose right in this case either. to ensure best chances, eberle, perron, etc would have to mbe moved for prospects/picks... probably at slightly lower prices than expected. |

The new lottery makes it a crap shoot for the bottom couple teams. You don't need to come in last, 27-30th place is fine. |

the oilers blogger is absolutely terrible this coming from a flames fan, 3 games in and he's already telling people to embrace how bad they are and look forward to mcdavid
It's only 3 games into the season, a lot teams start slow I guess the flyers are in the Mcdavid sweepstakes too cause they're struggling early. It's not just bad writing it's just plain stupid |

Because he's more than likely to demand a trade out if we are drafting in the top 3 again. |

Worse stats of the day is looking at the box score and seeing Hendricks having the best game on paper.
I know everyone likes to crap on Eakins and our crappy captain, but where is Hall, Schultz, Perron and even Yak in a game like last nights? We need guys other than our plugs to step up against team's like LA.
The result wasn't surprising given who we were sitting, but this team needs its star s to rise to the occasion. |

I'm just curious, were Eakins to be fired, would you guys be bothered by Todd Nelson being given the chance? While he's also a rookie coach, he's got a nicer record and has worked with our prospects. The only really viable coach with NHL experience that I can think of is Bylsma. - MaximumBone
If Eakins is fired, I think we want an experienced coach. If we have a similar first 20 games to last year and Eakins is fired i'd have no problem with MacT coaching partly to see whom the problem players are. |
