RJ is available?? Hudler from Calgary? Gaustad sucks, Turris is not available as he is the only forward in ottawa now. Toffoli is another young guy which doesnt help us with the veteran thing.
Just because a guy plays Center and is good does not mean they are available... - Oilfan19
Man, everyone's available. Especially for good draft picks. The only players not available to the oil are one's with NTC/NMC. You are underestimating the value of a high draft pick.
You have used the word 'sucks' a few times. Love to know your benchmark; current oiler players or the rest of the league? Regardless of potential, everyone on the oil suck at this moment so it's hard to understand how you could be so picky. |

If everyone is available then lets call up about crosby and Stammer.
Sorry, Gaustad is worse then Gordon so that would be a waste of a trade. |

Ference couldn't hold Willie's jock strap. |

My point is that signing Mitchell doesnt help us on the ice, and it doesnt help us any more in the dressing room then having ference there. |

Hall, Yaks, and a 2015 1st. That would get their attention. Everyone's available if they don't have a trade clause. |

Even though he's overpaid, maybe adding another couple of guys like that could've helped. Who really knows though, it's really a big cluster (frank) when you think about it. Being the GM of this team is a tough job. Another season where they're out of it by January/February then I'd say it's time to move on from Eakins and make a change to the core with a big trade. |

Well who on that D do you take out to put in Mitchell? As bad as our D corps is I would rather all of them over mitchell |

If you're dangling (multiple) 1sts, the standard needs to be higher than "slightly better than what we have now".
Out of those who were available, I would have loved to get Hartnell, Ehrhoff, and Olli. But I have no indication whether management tried or didn't try to get them, or how hard, so I can't comment.
Out of those who could be available, I'd love to get Yandle, Bogosian, Wiznewski, Coburn, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Marcus Johanssson, and Vermette. But I have no indication whether management tried or didn't try to get them, or how hard, so I can't comment on that either.

Fayne, Nikitin were supposed to at least help you guys depth-wise. Nikitin to me looks more like a solid bottom pairing d-man, similar to Ference. Fayne has always had strong possession stats, but is he one of those guys with better #fancystats than actual ability or is he simply going to be relied on to do more than he can on a bad defensive group?
I'd probably say the latter. |

I'd take him over Nikitin. Both solid defensive bottom pairing guys, but Willie definitely is a stronger leader IMO. |

Agreed on the leadership, I'll give you that. But Willie is a pylon now. Although Niki only passes to the opposing team.. |

I'd say it's definitely the latter. Also, we're not doing our Dcore any favours by overplaying Brad Hunt, keeping Marincin in the minors and giving up on Petry.
Schultz, Petry, Fayne and Marincin should be top 4 dmen in Edmonton. Nikitin and Ference should be a multifaceted bottom pairing. It's not a fantastic Dcore, but it'd be better than how everyone's being deployed now. |

OK on Stuart but the other three didn't get your attention?
If you want a centre then go out and get Ryan Johansen, Tyler Toffoli, Jiri Hudler, Paul Gaustad, Kyle Turris, etc, etc…
Lots available but you got to pay a price. MacT covets draft picks and I don't know why. - bloatedmosquito
MacT just took over the team last year. |

Hunt needs to go, on Toffoli's SHG last night, Yak backchecks hard to cover his man and Hunt is just looking hilarious reaching around for the puck against Toffoli. |

agreed. Couldn't believe people were slagging Yakupov for "standing around" when Hunt needs to box out his guys there. |

Oh, I totally agree. Eakins/management is making this way harder than it needs to be.
That group of 6 would be a lot more solid. |

Ference is a nice guy, but before the Bruins won that cup, would you have targeted him as your leader for your team going forward. And wasn't he the 4th best Dmen on that team, behind Seidenburg, Boychuck and Chara?
I think just think W. Mitchell is one of those guys that can calm a team down, and really show them the way.
No offense to Ference I just see him as this happy go lucky hippie guy, not the guy I'd want leading me into battle. |
