It is Bennington first year and Gillis did tie his hands . He has done a lot , but maybe didn't realize how much needed to be done. Torts (sorry Marwood ) was an idiot but he wasn't blind. When he said this was a stale core that needed to be gutted , he was correct.

Do you take the high draft pick or do you mortgage the farm to bring in high end talent with trades? I would keep the high draft picks and be patient.

In today's NHL you can only move kids when you have strength in numbers at any one position, we are nowhere near that, so I'm with you, be patient.

You work with what you can. Pull a couple of Kes/Garrison style trades if possible. If not, we will have to pursue other options. Buyout maybe (non compliance obviously) or just wait for contracts to expire without renewing them/leveraging deals for substantially reduced roles

Keep in mind next years draft is extremely deep, picks in the 6-10 range will still be great picks.
