That was also on a team coming off a 22 win, second to last place season.

Good point about 4th line compared to 2nd line mins..

But wouldn't you still try to give them 9 games... then send them to Europe? Bc ebbett sill are both 2 way and don't need to go through waiver so after 9 games then bring them up

Honestly I wish they were in wbs so I could go watch them..
Megna sundqvist kapanen line would be sweet in wbs...

I wanted them up here, but that doesn't mean it is best for their growth as players. You have to learn how to walk before you can run. The standard is the standard. At the end of the day....

Sorry I made one cliche and felt the need to keep going

Sundqvist would benefit from going to Wilkes-Barre, but that can't happen due to his contract. Those guys spent the last month practicing with then Pens, I can't see how a few more weeks would make much of a difference.

As far as Kapenen, his deficiencies are purely physical... Another year will likely do him wonders. He sees the game well, he has the skill, and with his father as a role model, his maturity as a pro is ahead of most kids his age.

Both those leagues end in March, chances are those two will be in Wilkes-Barre for the end of the season.

Right, and who is to say one if not both get a call up for the playoffs if they perform./

I had some questions about eligibility for the AHL playoffs, but with some google help, it seems like any signed draft choice is eligible to be added to the playoff roster, so that's good.

Having those guys go through a few rounds of the Calder Cup playoffs would even be beneficial.

To be fair you do have to highlight the outliers and explain why it just doesn't happen too often.

Look at Harrington, Despres, Dumo... they jumped in and boosted their games.

Lol... I didn't even notice that your last selection was overruled.

I guess we can just agree that rookies (draft year or even the year after) making it to the NHL rosters are rare, and usually require special circumstances (crappy teams, injuries, etc).

I'd be curious to see how many rookies over the past 5 years made teams that didn't suck or become decimated with injuries at the start of the season. Probably not many

I don't think many rookies make rosters outside of extreme circumstance I have no issue with the Pens not giving rookies playing time. I think NH was implying that the Pens are different then other teams in that way and I disagree.

Yeah, it always seems like a few of the top 10 drafted make it, but their teams drafted in the top 10 because they likely suck.
