Am I the only one that doesn't want Kapanen on the team this year? Just for him to end up like Bennett; injured all the time, because he has the body of a child? No thanks

- nbartley9

I'm completely fine with him going home to play for another year. He has had flashes this preseason, but for an 18 year old to make the team in his first camp, he has to do more than just show flashes.

I would have been fine giving him a few games, especially if Geno was out, but give him a year to physically mature.

Next season he can play a reduced role, or spend some time in Wilkes-Barre, no need to rush our first high end forward prospect in recent years.

I wonder if anyone here will have an issue with this?

Kunitz-Crosby-Hornquvist
Malkin-Sutter-Dupuis
Spaling-Goc-Downie

Adams

Letang-Ehrhoff

Scuderi-Harrington

Fleury / Greiss

Down to WBS in paper move until he is ready - Maatta
IR - Bennett, Bortuzzo

I think moving sutter up is to either boost value and prove he can play in a 2nd C role, or to give sundqvist time to play. I'd rather have Hornqvist and dupuis flip flop, but I kind of like those lines

Malkin isn't staying at wing. It will be a temporary thing. If playing wing is what gets him in the lineup a little sooner, so be it.

Any thought that his injury could be shoulder/arm related, and it keeps him from taking face offs for a little longer? Or is that just reading too much into MJ wanting to bring him along slowly?

Maatta would not have to go anywhere. He's been practicing full contact just not game cleared yet. Still a shot he plays Thursday.

I don't think anyone at this point will complain about line combos. This lineup is not set for the season.

Everything that I've read said it's lower body.

Honestly I have no idea what is bothering him. My guess was a groin but my guess is as good as anybody else's.

I love Sill in the line up, that's a great move.

Sutturd on the second line? WOW

It helps with the issue of Crosby, Malkin, Sutter, Goc, and Sundquvist all being C's for now.

Plus, Bennett is out on the line-up for the time being so the 3rd line of Bennett-Sutter-Downie pretty much loses its creative O punch.

True, but he can pass down without going through waivers & it would remove his Cap Hit for a few days. It just saves a little $ against the Cap for trade deadline time.

While I do not share your obsessive hatred of Sutter, I'd play almost anyone over Adams at this point. He just doesn't offer anything positive.

Yeah Adams is done, respectable career; but non the less he is done.

I would take Adams in his prime over Sutter in his prime.

Mueller on unconditional waivers Gunner. Think a league min. contract would entice him over?

I'm more excited about the possibility of seeing Harrington suit up than anything else. Sundqvist getting a shot would he awesome, and deserved. Kapanen too.

Obviously want Maatta back but if he's down then having Harrington out there should be fun to see. He's going to be important for this team. I just hope Scuderi doesn't hurt him. He may have to compensate for him. Almost not fair to be required to play with him.

I already miss Brooks, I know he wasn't the player he was in 09' but still he has been one my favorite players for a long time.

They won't. Seems fishy they are terminating his contract too. Must not have looked good at all during camp. Unless its to give him a shot somewhere else. I bet he goes back overseas.

My Jason Botterill prediction...

Before 5PM, Pens will:

Demote:
Taylor Chorney
Kasperi Kapanen
Andrew Ebbet
Scott Harrington
Derek Pouliot
Olli Maatta

Recall:
Reid McNeil

And have a opening roster of 23 guys with only $833 in cap space.

That way then can then put Bennett and Bortuzzo on LTIR and have up to $1.5 in LTIR cap space to play with.

Then Maatta and Harrington get recalled before Thursday.

Pretty complex to undestand your way of thinking

The re-call McNeill was pretty good. How did you come up with that?lol

Slow afternoon, and playing with Capgeek armchair GM lol... McNeil's contract was the closest to the dollar amount I needed to get closest to the cap ceiling.

I don't know if anyone noticed but the number on the helmets have a yellow frame in it. I thought it was neat. This surely will help us win a few more games come playoff time.

It's not fishy. He isn't reporting to AHL so they are just parting ways.
