probably because Nylander's face is too small for the size of his head.

James Mirtle @mirtle
Nonis: "William could have played in the NHL this year.

If thats the case Dave than he should be...

- Fruitcakenipple

I'm assuming the full quote was:

"William could have played in the NHL this year, but we would be completely ruining his development as a player. The kid weighs $1.05, so he probably would have been dead by Christmas. And even on the off-chance that he lived, we would have shattered his confidence so badly that we would never realize his full potential. We completely ruined Schenn - yeah, sure, we managed to unload that garbage to Philly, but we still don't want to do it again."

But Mirtle couldn't fit that in one tweet (140 character limit and all) so he just went with the first bit of the quote.

Yesterday, Budaj thinks he's getting fresh start in WPG behind Pavelec instead of Price in MTL and now he may be an Ice Cap in the AHL.

Pretty sure they were talking about next season. Could be wrong.

I don't see any issue with him staying in Sweden for a year, then hittin the AHL for a year.

phaneuf on ana radar:

maybe some truth to this, not saying its going to happen but consider this: Anaheim has over 9mil cap, also have 8 D men signed.

lots of trades in past with ANA & TOR.

but i dunno, seems like a monster trade.

as for Nylander: he will be a great leaf someday, that day is not this season...why no AHL for him? Because, he will be the leafs #1 pick and get too much attn, leafs go on one 5 game losing streak and it will be "BRING UP NYLANDER TO SAVE THE LEAFS" - also, AHL is much much more tough in terms of guys being goons, in Europe he will still get the same playing time dont kid yourself, but he wont be targeted to get drilled over and over and wont be the savior when we are in a rut.

thats my opinion anyhow! go leafs go, i like the moves today by shanny and co!

- Lucas Neilson

I think he's in Sweden for the main purpose of preserving a yeR of ELC. Not a concern about the league I don't think... But too many bodies on marlies.

Fishbowl point is well served, but cap considerations with the ELC make it even smarter.

A lot of former 1st round picks hitting waivers. Jordan Caron yesterday. Landon Ferraro.....a few others i noticed. I don't mind anymore if Ashton hits too, he won't get claimed. Teams are too stocked with their own bubble guys.
