cept for Frattin...doesnt deserve to be on team as a regular.
- Fakepartofme

injuries - booth

perhaps he will be in presser once season starts.

or they are hoping he just had a poop pre/season and last 50 NHL games and can get back on track when the season gets going

sounds like a stretch to me, he was garbage.

If Franson isn't ready for Wednesday appears Leaf pairs will look as follows: Phaneuf-Robidas. Gardiner-Rielly. Percy-Polak.

Hope Bernier is well rested.

Franson also unable to make it through practice (left knee). Status for opening night in doubt.

They need someone who can actually play right now..Holzer isnt that guy...

- Fruitcakenipple

I was hoping they signed Tallinder for that very reason. Unfortunately, his shoulder said no

Theyre no Frankie Jesus Corrado

Regarding Nylander, kids extremely talented, all jokes aside, another year will be good for his development.

Percy as the 7th D sucks.

How can someone develop when sitting in the pressbox?

- jbold

Is he not going to play in Franson's spot until he returns?

I'm sure he will play more than he sits...injuries...Franson's sucky play etc etc.

i agree that for wild games, such as boston montreal of buffalo, we can call up Orr or Mclaren. No need for them anywise.
- MacMillsauce

No one will fight them.....still a waste of roster spot.
Time for the team to toughing up and not really on one player to fight for them.

Best D they can ice in my opinion. Franson sure doesn't make that 6 any better.

He needs to enter his next stage of development.

Like you said another year in juniors would be a waste. If you put him on a line with some solid NHLers he'll be fine.

I think he's ready and that he'll have a good year.

- RickJames77

Namestnikov, Kucherov and Connolly are definitely challenging for top six spots.

Who on Montreal, Buffalo and Boston are going to fight Orr and McLaren?

They got rid of their tough guys.

Although he played better last game, I agree...seems to have lost his will or desire to compete.

Only one left is McQuaid and he is made of glass...Him and Lupul should get a time share, a cute lapdog, and a pink prius.

Long term is he not destined for the AHL though? What happens if he begins to flop? Does he not get immediately send down when Franson is ready?

Percy could play well for 25-30 games (or less), but will inevitabley hit that rookie wall. The potential issues arises when he plays well for closer to 30 games and the team moves a guy like Franson to keep him on the roster. Bad move.

Percy earned his cup of coffee. Lets see how he does, but lets also humble ourselves and realize he is probably best off in the AHL again this year.
