We will get the answers starting Wednesday. I look forward to seeing us against Dallas Colorado Minny to see where we really stand
- VANTEL

Colorado is going to take a fall this year, Minny is thinner than we are, Dallas on the other hand is probably going to push Chicago/StL for top spot in the Central

Nah I play for one team only so far, but my G/F is doing her best to push me to the other team.

Dallas needs a hell of a season from their back end to challenge those teams. Their top six though, they don't suck.

Minny is miles ahead of us except in goals

Col. will finish over us.

Minny: No goaltending, No D other than Suter, Young forwards

Colorado overachieved beyond even the most generous of expectations, and Varlomov had a career year, I don't see him or them repeating that.

Burrows I think 12 give or take 2 goals

Daniel 16 , give or take 2 goals.

That in my estimate means they will have goal production one line less than what they are currently slotted at.

- VANTEL

pretty fair guesstimate I think.

vrbata with 24. and kassian with 19.

you are underestimating Minny and Col

Col
there top 6 kills a lot of teams and will rack up points. 2 potential 30 goal scorers on those top 2 lines.

Their goaltending is the weakest link I think.

Minny
again, top 6 is pretty solid lots of goal scorers. 2-3 potential 30goals scorers. Great role players as well in forwards so pretty consistent lines.

D is young, but all solid players (those kids would make top4 on a few teams in a couple years on a lot of teams).

Goalie again is the ? mark, but its not terrible.

Both teams have a good long future ahead of them, and will be strong over the next 5 yrs as SJ, LA and VCR move out of the ranks.

I'll agree with that statement, although their opinion and writing techniques are quite similar, and Vantel does quote Gallagher a lot...could they be one of the same...

Yea I think COL may see a bit of a setback but they are young as hell and had Duchene out for a substantial amount of time. Add in the emergence of Tyson Barrie and you have a team that will be contending very soon

This Canucks team is much like Dallas was last year, they had Benn and Seguin, and pretty much nothing else offensively. Realistically we could finish in the 5-10 spot in the league or we could make the playoffs like they did.

PS: I know 82 games is a long season, but a lot has to go right this year.

Duchene only missed 11 games, which hurts but isn't that substantial in the long run. I think this team will continue to be exciting to watch but has the best chance of falling out of the playoffs in the west. They lost their two best possession players in Stastny and Parenteau and had a goalie who played unreal and most likely will not be able to replicate that.
To put it in perspective last year he had a .927% in 63 games, his previous 88 games he had a .910%. I'm not saying he isn't a good goalie but it would be crazy to expect him to post those types of numbers.
Col defense is not very mobile or good in general, yes Barrie is becoming a legit top 4 and Johnson has turned a corner but this D is a mess.

Mackinnon did a great job last year, but he had a lot of insulation with Statsny taking a lot of the tough minutes and most teams focusing on Duchene. This year he will be expected to take on a larger role and I doubt he produces as well.

As I said they will likely fall back a bit but I still believe they will be a playoff team

except dallas's 1st line is on its way up in its career. Vancouvers is not.

they're just passing each other

That's really not important at this point, it may be in a few years, but right now it's pretty meaningless. Don't get me wrong, Benn and Seguin are great young players, but the point stands, it looks as though we've got two offensive players and a bunch of what ifs…much like they did last year.

One line producing offence is never a good thing come playoff time, ask any Canuck fan or Jim Nill. That's why they went out and spent the money and assets to acquire Spezza and Hemksy.

Definitely agree with that. I can't see them regressing to the point where they don't make the play-offs. They are a solid and exciting squad with 4 potential 40 goal scorers (O'Reilly, Landaskog, Duchene, MacKinnon). Barrie is coming into his own and that power play is going to be lethal. Varlamov has steadied himself since coming from Washington and seems to have worked on his flexibility/core, so that he hasn't been injured the past few years.

And of course the Wild Card of Patrick Roy - so far so good.

The rest of the D isn't exactly a mess - Johnson is solid, Hejda is very steady. The rest of the D - I believe everyone was a plus for the year, me thinks that's pretty decent defending (which of course always starts with the goaltender, however)

Absolutely, I think their advanced stats will improve this year, but they will end up being less lucky
