C'mon Jason. McNabb was brought in for one reason; to make Brown look like a clean player.

I hate him already. Mostly because he's an unskilled King.

Good luck this year Kings fans. You won't be seeing my Ducks again this postseason.

ducks should've dealt for him to seal the lady byng for corey perry. then someone else could look tough by picking fights against pavel datsyuk.

Dater is way overboard and is clearly just angry about that hit. However, to a much lesser degree he right (not the wussy part).

"Is McNabb a dirty player? Not at all. Is he a physical player? Absolutely. It's something that he tries to impose on players each and every night. While McNabb was fairly physical last night, laying at least two large open ice hits on Avs players, that must have sent Dater into enough of a frenzy to bring up a game that happened three years ago and try to make a judgement on a player's character. A game that involved 16-18 year olds no less. "

Actually, McNabb has a reputation as a "walk the line of dirty" player. You certainly can't say "Not at all." to that question. He's no Matt Cooke, but he reminds me of Roussel. He has a penchant for penalty minutes and physical play, but he has only been suspended once for crossing the line. He has been given plenty of game misconducts tho and you don't get those for playing a clean kind of physical.

Mind you, this is an Avs team that has employed players such as Cody McLeod, Steve Downie, and Claude Lemiuex.

Ummm?

Cody McLeod has thrown one "dirty hit" in my memory and that was the hit on Nick Kronwall, Kronwall even.said it was his own fault for turning at the last minute knowing Mac would finish his check. Should Mac have done that? Nope, but I wouldn't call him a dirty player for that

Steve Downie was in Colorado for a short time with a reputation going in, only hit I can remember him throwing that was "Questionable" was on Roman Jodi where he supposedly jumped, but the league ruled it a clean hit.
E
Claude Lemieux was so long ago you can't count.

Not a fan of the way Dater handled himself, but don't confuse the Avs with a dirty team.

K Thanks.

Finally a duck fan admitting they won't be making the playoffs with their goalies in question.

edit: how was watching the best team in baseball lose miserably to KC?? 2 anaheim teams finished best in their conference and failed in the playoffs. That division title really got those teams REALLY far

I would say their Defense is the bigger question mark... Really young and could lead to questionable goaltending because of thier D

I don't at all. They are a clean team. The point I was trying to make here was that Dater was quick to judge McNabb for one hit in his career.

Looking at McNabb's disciplinary record he is spotless outside of that one hit in the memorial cup. I'd like all the people who are questioning my statement about McNabb being a dirty player to realize this. He has ONE suspension. Is that really where we are going? One hit is enough to damn a player for life? Yes it was a bad hit on Hishon, but to write him off as dirty for his whole career because of it is poor taste. He is a physical player, and to date has been a clean player outside of the Hishon hit.

In regards to the mentioned Avs players, I would not rate any of the them as "Dirty" per se, but if we are categorizing McNabb as dirty then wouldn't Lemieux, Downie, and McLeod also be considered "Dirty"?

After all, McLeod was suspended five games just over a year ago for boarding Kronwall. Lemieux had the famous hit on Kris Draper which broke his jaw. Steve Downie slashed a ref and launched himself into Dean McAmmond. However, here he is going out of his way in calling McNabb a talentless punk on the same level as Matt Cooke.

It's all about having an unbiased perspective, that which Dater shows none of on a regular basis.

I am in no way absolving McNabb of his prior actions, but it wasn't a Todd Bertuzzi cheap shot. That hit was a 6'4 defenseman stepping up in the incorrect way on a 5'11 forward leaning for the puck It wasn't premeditated. It was a hockey play gone very wrong. We see those kinds of hits from time to time in the NHL. It was definitely a bad hit deserving of a suspension (Which the CHL completely dropped the ball on I might add), but this is not Matt Cooke level stuff.

This is the most intelligent post I've ever seen. You're rounding into a solid veteran.

And if you think my statement was a set up, you're wrong. Let's talk after the season. My Ducks are getting too much credit right now. And yes, it's the defense, not the goaltending I'm worried about. The third and fourth lines aren't looking all that good either. And with your normal #4 spot, we'll finish in either 2 or 3....or out.

That is a logical and well-written response Jason. It is amazing to me this Denver reporter has a job as a professional newsman. Talk about someone who should be suspended....wouldn't that be ironic.

Anyway, it was clear during the preseason that opposing players better have their head up when attacking. McNabb had a couple of nice hits, and this will certainly get the crowd going. What I am concerned about, especially being a defensemen, is that can put him too far out of position if he does not pick his spots wisely. Dustin Brown had the same issue earlier in his career, he is a smarter player now.

That has been the major criticism of him in the past.

You are not exactly the smartest poster on this site lol

You constantly say the dumbest things about how great your team is but can never back it up with real logic.

👏 👏 👏 (slow clap) bravo duck fan bravo.

(Sabres Fan here)...This Voynov suspension had be googling McNabb to see if his playing time would go up to fill some of that void and stumbled on this article/storyline. This AVs writer definitely has a grudge he's holding 3 years later on a guy that was 20 years old in juniors. Can't help but feel for the Avs prospect that took the hit but there seems to be an unprofessional vendetta by this writer. And I see now he's paying for that with a suspension.

Always liked McNabb in Buffalo and was hoping he'd develop a bit more than he did before we shipped him out. Good offensive potential on the power play (AHL's hardest shot) with an excellent point shot, and of course he brings that physical element teams want on the blueline. Probably tops out on the 2nd pairing but I'll be interested to see if can take that next step in LA.
