Eric staal always looks so good in all the highlight clips, big fast talented but for some reason there is something about him. Maybe its the 8 mil cap hit or maybe its how bad he was last year. Are his knees getting banged up or is he just on a completely poop team he is a curious case. I would move Patty to a team like Nashville or Arizona if they where in the play off hunt at the deadline as i think they would have the best chance of coming up short giving us two first in the first round and two pics in the top 16 which would be crazy for our future especially if we took to forwards ( I would )

I thought he was injured either this year or last year for months, but apparently he wasn't, he missed three games, but has stayed healthy, had good numbers too for the team he was on. Same thing with Jordan, besides now of course. Eric will be 30 and Jordan turned 26, and Zajac is 29, we'd be set for 5-6 years down the middle. Eric contract is at 8 mil, but Carolina would have to eat some of it and it ends after next year, so if we could resign him for about 6ish, than that'd be great. What I was thinking was if we did get some extra picks and not just for this year, than see what it would cost to get both Staal brothers. Also, I honestly thought about trading Elias to Arizona like 2-3 days ago, but I don't remember for what. I really would like to see some worthless bodies being moved.

Yea I dont know about Pirri there are a few centers on the panthers I would want before him I know rebuilds dont happen in Jersey but seriously if we dont sell of some of the old guys who are actually good, so not Zubs, Ruutu, ect and moved Elias and jagr we would get a much greater return and not be stuck in that 8-10th spot in the standins untill we finally develope a scorer. This all could just be crazy talk but I would be on board if it was decided upon. I like getting some sort of return for assets instead of nothing thats what any business should aim for. I think loyalty is great especially when you are a new franchise in the league but we have been around and built up a reputation and can likely afford to be less loyal to run like a franchise who only cares about success instead of one who tries to fit both success and loyalty into their agenda

About Pirri, when he was given more time he produce pretty well in 21 games with Florida he scored 7G-7A-14P. I think you could find a team for Ruutu. I know I mentioned Ryder to Calgary, but even Ruutu could fit on that team on the RW.

Me two I am just not sure whats to be had out of what we can realistically afford to offer up so anyone not name Henrique, Gelinas, Larsson, Merril, Severson, Boucher and preferably not any firsts ( for me anyways ) unless we are getting a way younger player then a 30 year old. Thats not looking like much other then Elias, Zids and Jags and all are old so teams are going to want to pay less then what we feel we should get because they wont be as important to the teams interested as they are to us.

With Burke at the helm or there in some capacity I think they would prefer Ruutu over Ryder. They literally practiced fighting at one of their practices and added more goons this off season. RMDevil mentioned it once before and I like it is Matteau for Baerschi or however his name is spelled. I think talent is a bigger priority for us over size and toughness and skill and talent are harder to address via free agency then size grit and toughness are. I think our biggest mistake has been trying to draft safe picks who lack talent but are sure fire nhlers in some capacity and then we try and pick up all our top talent by over paying in free agency. To me we have been doing it backwards. You draft talent and pick up grit toughness and size in free agency. That way you dont end up with clowe for 5 years just under 5 milliona and cammy who is decent and 5 million wont be bad for the first 2-3 years but at 5 years I worry about paying him 5 million a year for those last two years and how little he might produce at that point in his career.

If this was at the deadline, I would offer Elias, Havlat(he would have to be included), JJ, maybe someone like Scarlett(that just came to me), our 2015 1st and 3rd, 2016 2nd, and probably 2017 3rd OR 2015 2nd, 2016 1st and 3rd, 2017 2nd. Carolina would also have to eat some on their cap, like 30% of Erics, that's 5.775mil salary we'd have to pay. I wouldn't do that. But maybe we can steal him for Ruutu. I'm not really high on him, I think he has had trouble with defense and for some other reason he cant stay with Calgary. He was sent down again.

Headaches.

Larsson has been over-committing all night. Several point blank chances coming from his side of the ice. It's uncharacteristic of him. He's a mess.

Now Merrill and Gelinas getting into the act too. If not for Schneider and the fact that the A squad is sitting out for NYR the Devils would be down three.

With two assists he might be first star now.

Really impressed with Severson. He accelerates quickly and has a real suddenness to his skating. He's made a little mistake or two but looks terrific for a young D.
