I hear what youre saying. Explain to me how else the Oilers have sold out the arena for the past 10 years on a nightly basis? The on ice product is/was poop. - Jeropotato
A ridiculously mad rabid hockey fan base and limited space to fit them all into one spot.
A glimmer of hope with the oilers young guys.
And bright lights and steroids. |

There's parallels.. And you know it. And there isn't a doctor in the world who specializes in what I have. |

No, I don't care about that poop...
The sport.. It's all hyped up by bright lights and drunk yelling fans. You like watching it because you feel like you are apart of something, not because the sport itself is so good you can't resist it. And of course more people tune in now that it's getting more attention. Any attention is good attention! WWE is also at an all time high, and has many parallels with the NFL.. Mainly steroids and a beyond stupid fan base. - Arctic_AARDVARK
 ok...
you know, there are those of us who actually just love the sport, and watching the best athletes play it. Same reason college football is bigger than Any other sport in NA except for the NFL. |

If other countries, mainly ones that play rugby, or Gaelic, Aussie rules football started training and playing American football, this little circus called the NFL would be exposed for what it is. |

Outside glimpses of elite talent when he has some time and space on the power play Nylander hasn't looked very good at all. He has the tools to be a high end offensive player and maybe even a solid two way player. Great vision, speed, hands and a good stick for stealing the puck but he looks terrified out there. He stops moving his feet as soon as he crosses the blue line instead of using his speed to back the defense up. He also always makes big turns, putting himself out of position instead of stops and starts. Another year in Sweden to put on 15 or 20 pounds of muscle and then maybe a year in the A to learn the North American game and he could be a special player. |

If the US started training and playing those sports, they'd dominate them too.

thats about all you can expect from an 18 year old playing in sweden.
he needs time like most high end prospects do.
three things to note: his skating is excellent
his vision is superb
but he needs some strength (not so much size) but just core strength, very much like Kadri when he first came to the NHL.
the good thing is, you cant teach someone vision or skating ability, you can work on skating and try to teach things about the game, but its like phil, you cant teach that shot/release, you either have it , or you dont.
nylander will do well, but in time. |
