I don't see anything from him that will make him a special player, he is an average prospect, nothing more.
- LeafMan

You must not see much at all. Clearly his skill set and vision is something special.

Too bad he is so small. He has stuck out more than some of the leafs this preseason as well. Open your eyes, no wonder your a ref!

No he hasn't. Don't over hype mediocrity in his play.

- LeafMan

I disagree, I believe he has shown glimpses of it. Because you disagree does not make it laughable.

No, I don't see what people hope and want to see in him, the fact is, he has not been very good at all, he has not shown anything that will make him a "special" player. Stop over valuing his play.

If you're talking Nylander, his skating is above average. As is his penchant for finding open ice and his stick work.

I do think a lot of development needs to come, but at 18, he's looking very blue chip to me.

And no, he shouldn't be in the NHL. If he is, his season will look a lot like Elias Lindholms in Carolina, or Jiri Tlusty's 19 year old season.

Next year though, i wouldn't be surprised if he pulls a Tomas Hertl.

In my opinion - with what we've experienced these umpteen years. If he's an actual top 6 forward in this league, I'd be very happy.

reports of line rushes at morning skate did not include Lupul, Kadri and Leivo. I will update before the game.

I compared him to Gamache, small feisty guy that impresses in the pre-season, but isn't good enough to stick long-term.

sooo....

nope

I get the same feeling with him, that I got with Kadri.
The guy though that has me excited from this camp is Leivo. I thought he looked great with Bozak and Lupul.

Gamache was also 26 lol. If Nylander's as good right now as Gamache was at 26, that's a very good sign.

I think he's a tad below average. He just doesn't seem to have anything to his game. Another bust.

Meh, I'm telling it like it is, I'm not going to sugar coat my assessment because he was a high pick, just about every prospect can skate fast, that is not a big deal anymore, he has not impressed all, plain and simple. I don't care if it is not a popular opinion, you can tell right away when a player is special, he isn't.

He has great skating ability.

For now he should play in the AHL....but Im looking forward to seeing more from him as he improves down the road.
