Even with their off season training. I'd do what I could in training to avoid one...they suck bad.

I read somewhere in the past that those injuries are mainly caused by the rigidity of the skates. Something with the ankles not being able to move freely. The groin and lower abdominal muscles compensate and it often results in injuries when the effort level/number of times you skate increases.

Interesting...and there is no real training method to replace the action of skating.

My shoulder pads are 37 years old, and I'm not kidding. Everything else has been upgraded, but I can't wear new shoulder pads.

The only way to avoid it is to keep skating at a high level year long (for those who tend to suffer that type of injury, obviously)

Yeah its unreal how a prospect can play a pretty good game but never see the light of day here in toronto when they allow trash like franson still to remain or holzer

They keep me warm in cold rinks. Honestly, it's like wearing a seatbelt - feels too weird when I don't wear them. They do eff all except make me feel warm and cozy.
