With the play of Kap and Oscar the Grouch this preseason, I predict one of Kunitz/Duper will begin next season in another uniform. - 87_71_11_29
That's a tough sell though. Who wants a 35 year old sidekick that hasn't shown much value outside of playing with two of the games best and at almost 4 mill a piece! I'm not saying it can't happen, but it is very very unlikely. I'll laugh when those two are Goc's wingers next season though on the third line |

Dave Semenko has at least 4 cup rings. Does that mean he was a good player or just a guy on a good team? - Ben37
I think your question begs to ask a rather simple question... what's the difference? Regardless of their role, they all get their name inscribed on the Cup in equal font. |

Anybody in here familiar with cbs fantasy hockey? Got roped into a league(never used cbs before) and have some questions about roster management. It is a weekly h2h league. |

If JR can pull off a trade for a top 6 winger, it's certainly possible.
Trade/Sid/kap
Bennett/malkin/Hornqvist
Kunitz/goc/dupuis
Megna/sundqvist/spaling
I'd think sutter would be a part of that deal for a top 6 W |

While he is probably $1 mil overpaid, guys like him have good value to a team. They can play any position on any line. He is a solid 3rd line player, but can slide up and down the lineup if needed. Is he a top 6 center? No, but if Sid or Geno is out a couple of games, you can plug him in and have a functioning line. And with his simple game, he could be an effective top 6 winger with Sid or Malkin. |

Adams probably shouldn't make the team this year. If he does he should spend most of the time in the press box and occasionally play (maybe once every four games or so) to give younger players (ones like Sunqvist, should he make the team) a rest.
However, Adams' contract doesn't really hurt the team the way Scuderi's does. It is "only" 700k and is over this year, unlike Scuderi's which is over 3.3 million until 2017. A bad defensman hurts the team a lot worse than a bad fourth line forward when on the ice.
Unless Johnston decides to start Adams in every game I think his presence on the team is largely inconsequential. Also, I am not sure how a younger player like Sunqvist would hold up over an 82 game season and perhaps for his first year it might be a good idea to have him split time with Adams. |

Scandinavians with that special kind of puck skill and big hulking kids from Alberta whose fathers told them stories about Charlie Simmer and Al Secord. That's what Pittsburgh needs. |

So maybe because of that versatility...he's really not overpaid by $1M? |

we certainly are picking up on point number one, they are starting to understand that. The second part isn't a bad idea, but you sound too much like shero did with his mobile defensemen idea haha. |

I see a lot of hate going Spalings way, I have seen him play an effective game on the boards. He is not a hitter he is not a scoring machine but when it comes to possessing the puck he is above average in that facet of the game. When it comes to a 4th liner that's a pretty good trait. Something that none of our 4th liners could do last year.

That's an organization that knows what is needed to win. I hope we meet in the Cup and Car Bomb puts Sutturd into 10th row. |

He has shown me good puck control and responsible defensive play. He has really shown me that he can be an effective bottom six player, with the exception of scoring. He has shown little in the scoring department. If you put him with Turd and Downie I think we can have success. Or put him with Goc and Sundqvist. |

I think some of us wonder if a Spalling type player could have been had for less money. I understand it's only been pre-season, but I kept hoping to see some kind of individual effort that makes me think he's better than average at something/anything. I'll keep an open mind, but I can't stop thinking that I'd rather have Stempy back for less than half of what they're paying Spalling. |
