Great read Ty. Spot on.
This 4th line is way past it's glory days. It proved to ineffective over the past two seasons. Putting spooner between paille and caron would give you so much more speed and energy than having campbell or kelly as the pivot. Not every centre has to be a defensive specialist, we already have three that are good in their own end. Spooner on a 4th line wouldn't go up against a top 6 for any other team as we already have Berg and Krej lines to do that. Campbell or Kelly really have no need on this team anymore. There is plenty of leadership in that room besides chara or bergy (Looch, krejci, seids, johnny, etc.) that getting rid of 11 and 23 wouldn't be a large loss at all. |

Interestingly none of those players have won a single god damn thing while the Bruins have been the most successful team in the East since their departure. - Double_A

My prediction as I think Pastrnak hype train will earn him a 9 game tryout and PC will continue smoking blue-sky meth when comes to Robbins.

first of all because he's a center and that part of playing the position. and he won't trust the fourth line if they are a liability. as much energy, grit, toughness, whatever they provided last year, they could be trusted.
the coach doesn't trust spooner. and by the looks of it he shouldn't |

i just think they don't want to lose too much toughness. and besides if he sucks they'll call on someone else. |

The fact that even had to be explained renders any other points from him invalid. |

I can see that and if necessary I hope they do exactly that. Time will tell I guess. I'd rather see

being good defensively is part of the postiton. being a SPECIALIST is not. and the 4th was a liability last season so that's an invalid point.
spooner provides an element that none of our current centres have |

no the weren't how do you figure?
and i understand he doesn't need to be a selke canadidate but he just isn't good in his own end, at all. and any center HAS to be to play in the NHL. |

Same here played well when he was called up, to me he showed that at least deserves a shot at that spot. |

Here's your quote:
What is KILLING me, is that everyone is pissed at the Bruins about this. No - Robins shouldn't beat out Spooner - so how about:
I'm pissed at Spoons. Seriously - he hasn't shown it. Yes, other teams have players like him, but its not like he's Nyquist and is potting goals. He's done and shown very little other than glimpses of awesome speed. You don't reward skills and potential. - BearTime

Why do I get the feeling there's a lot of Bruins fans who went all 4 Skinny guys when they played NES Ice Hockey?
It's like the whole notion of there actually being "roles" on a team has vanished. |

For me, it's just the bullpoop they spit out when their top guys went awol last year en route to a series loss against Montreal. They needed to get faster, shiftier, blah blah. They've done everything they can to give these open roster spots to dead weight. Give me Koko/Spooner centering that fourth line over Campbell every single day of the week, especially if they go out and sign Simon Gagne. Gagne will retire a day into his Bruins career with Gregory Campbell as his center. He's a black hole. |

I can't see the Bruins giving out a contract to Gagne, I'm with you on the Koko/Spooner Train, keep your 3 lines in tact Cload but give a different look when needed for the 4th line. |

I disagree with just giving a roster spot no matter where on the roster it is because a kid is promising offensively. I don't think Spooner is an ideal fit on a 4th line and I'm not positive it actually does anything for his development when he could be playing 19 minutes a night in all situations in Providence. Likewise with Koko. Like it or not, certain lines, certain positions on the roster have certain roles on the team. And an undersized center who has trouble in defensive zone coverage, doesn't have the strength to win battles down low and isn't using his elite speed to get on the backcheck isn't a good fit for a 4th line you want to roll out regularly that can safely manage the puck in their own end and generate possession in the offensive end. If he's playing on the 4th line, he doesn't have linemates who are going to put the puck in for him and he hasn't shown he can do it on his own. Campbell had a poop year last season, and he might be cooked, but up until that point he was arguably one of the best 4C's in the league and one that plenty of teams would love to have as 3C nevermind on the 4th line. That doesn't mean there aren't better options but I don't think Spooner or Koko are it. Hell I'd put Lindblad or Cunningham in that spot before Spooner or Koko. |
