The article (that I would assume most read before commenting?) shows pretty clearly that when Letang has played with Martin, Niskanen, or even Maatta, he's extremely effective. And when played with Eaton, Orpik, or Scuderi, he's suffered greatly. And I didn't really need advanced stats to know that, as Letang was GREAT with Martin at the end of last year.

And I disagree that he's not physical defensively. He's a bull down low. In fact, aside from Bortuzzo, Letang is the Penguins' most physical defenseman right now.

And the only one that can fight even a little bit.

Malkin needs to get back to 50 goals again and Kunitz helped bring out the best in him. And in general I just think that top line would be nasty.

Malkin can get back to 50 goals again if they take him off the point on the power play. His goal production slide coincides with this Bylsma move . He needs to roam through the slot.

I sure miss that Gonchar to Malkin for the one-timer from the circle. He used to blast that sucker with incredible accuracy! Then he had the shoulder problem and found himself on the point once he came back. I've often wondered if that shoulder still bothers him from time to time.

Well, part of what there is to be enamored over when it comes to Ehrhoff is his slapper. If he's not on the first unit power play, regardless of whether Letang is there or not, I'll be thoroughly surprised.

87-71-72-58-10 will be the first unit I would guess.

Johnston is bigger into two strong powerplays anyway so until Pouliot gets here, the second unit could be 7-3-14-16-19

2 really solid units if you ask me

True that! I love the idea of Geno being our PP sniper again.

Leino and Johansen. The first had a good playoff and Buffalo signed him to big money, the latter might be good and is trying to cash in early off one good year. Tough to evaluate off of one year. In Bostons case the players knew the predicament with the salary cap and still signed. As someone mentioned before, how these things are handled resonate with the players....likely why the same teams continue to suck.

Leino was a journeyman who had one good year

Jonahsen is a young (22), Former #4 overall pick and a 6'4 Center
Jonansen is showing all the strides expected of a player taken at #4 who is still 22, (1 good year ie: Breakout Year) it amazes me they are being so short sighted with him

Ehrhoff with 90% certainty. In the preseason games they have been paired together almost exclusively. Depres got a quick look with Ehrhoff in the Minnesota game. Martin has been paired with Scuderi and has not played with Letang at all, but they have not even dressed together.

Tristian Jarry gifs of his saves on Pensblog are pretty good. This kid might be the one true steal of Shero's drafting.

I can't say the Comeau signing really caused any reaction when the Pens signed him. But so far in the preseason, I really like what I've seen. Hustles, physical, and much better puck skills than I thought.

Short sample size but he sure has looked better than Spaling.

- YouMeAndDupuis9

I was extremely excited when they signed Comeau. I was calling for it before FA started. He is a guy that our bottom 6 was sorely missing. People forget that a) he is only 28, and b) he scored 24 goals with the Islanders a few years ago. He's had some issues with staying healthy, but if we can get close to a full season out of him, he will be a good addition to the team.

Man he nearly killed that official. This sport and its fans are getting so soft it makes me sick.

Thank God someone else said it, its getting pathetic. Its all these stat obsessed, fantasy loving hockey fans that are not getting the fact that hockey is more than just fancy goals and highlight reel saves. Its ruining the sport and eventually its going to translate onto the ice. Sutter is a perfect example f the new generation of hockey player (hard work means nothing, just throw out a pretty shorty every once in a while and everyone will be happy).

I want to imagine you drinking bourbon and black coffee at breakfast, but I have a strange feeling youre a chai tea and pastry type of fella.

I still like that idea better than Sutter as the 3rd C.

I think he could be a good winger as well. Speed and shot is there. He would take a lesser defensive role, which would make his size and lack of physicality a moot point. If Kapanen is on his way back to Europe like many are now saying, I wouldn't mind him in a top six right winger role for the time being.

Haha I am a fan of Bourbon, not so big on coffee. I would punch myself in the face if I drank something called Chai.
