Problem is they've given up so badly on kayfabe it's the only possible angle since no matter what happens they're essentially on the hook for it.

Part of me feels that is why the Authority won't go away.

They're the legitimately the people running the company.

He rounds up the "brass rings" under-utilized talent and goes to war with the authority who had them buried for the past three years.

It's been the main angle for 2.5 years. And for about 20 of the 30 months they had the champ under their thumb, and six months that they didn't it was part timer Brock.

post from reddit on an nxt thread, but its right on, imo:

The more I think about it, the more I honestly think WWE should present itself as a babyface. I mean, admittedly they've been stuck in the heel role for two decades almost at this point, but it's such a bad business proposition to have nearly every single authority figure presenting the company, be it Authority or Corporate or Mr McMahon, as the ultimate bad guy.

If authority figures went Jack Tunney, a neutral/good figure who upholds the standards of the kayfabe-athletic competition, it would put heat back on the actual heels, who cheat, who are mean, who are bad people. I know it's meta but the meta storyline has just gone on for too long. Now it feels incredibly refreshing to see a guy with authority (like Regal) on the show who actually makes decisions people like and cheer for.

It's a sad state of affairs that they had to do three ref spots and two Nia Jax spots to get Eva through a 10 minute match.

I was actively rooting for Bayley.

This is disappointing. I've enjoyed NXT a lot lately and haven't been able to bring myself to watch Raw in weeks.
