Maybe. Did that extra year in juniors Destroying kids with way less talent make him a better hockey player. - hafgod
Dunno..........Drouin is really good. Steve Yzerman seemed to think he should go back to junior. Maybe you should ask him. Hmmmm... |

There are plenty of ways young player may continue to develop in Juniors, even if be is the 2nd overall pick. In Reinhart's case, his development needs aren't about learning more about the game. Rather, he needs to develop his strength and his skating After a summer here listening to and working with the experts in those fields he could take that back to Juniors and work on those elements. Also, thing the puck to the net, being a little more selfish with the purchase know could improve his overall game.
Plenty to to work on there, no shame in it. |

Yikes:
''The videos did not demonstrate any aberrational driving by Tony Stewart until the point of impact with Kevin Ward, at which point his vehicle veered to the right up the track as a result of the collision. Prior to that, his course was pretty straight,'' said Tantillo. He added that toxicology evidence from Ward's autopsy ''indicates that at the time of operation he was under the influence of marijuana. The levels determined were enough to impair judgment.''
Tony Stewart cleared by grand jury, family still looking to pursue civil charges/damages. |

Just all the initial vitriol towards Stewart - "He revved his engine!", "He swerved into him", etc. The article states how various videos were pulled apart and used to overlay on top of each other to re-create it yet no out-of-the-norm movement was seen. |

are you suspect of the article? or do you agree with the case they made? i only ask because its tough to detect the tone in text
but yes there was a lot and i mean a lot of people that wanted to hang the guy instantly. Idk much about the sport but from my understanding there's virtually no way of stopping on a dirt track and the accelerator is used to steer (out of the way possibly). Then you take into factor how it was dark out, when did tony see him? at the last second perhaps. then finally, the kid is fuming and walking onto a track in which cars are coming right at him at high speeds...just stupidity really (not saying i havent had my fair share of those moments). All im saying is i really dont think it could have been avoided. tony didnt mean to run over and kill someone, its an accident plain and simple. this is all my opinion of course. have at it

Not skeptical of the article, just "yikes" with the added discovery of the guy's marijuana in his system. Not like others who may or may not have had it in theirs haven't been dumb and gotten on to the track, but doesn't look good. |

this is going to come out as a joke but kind of not...i would have thought that marijuana would have calmed him down but obviously not. Im really not sure of the affects that thc has on driving skills but I guess that does look really bad on his part. to me though its kinda like "ehhhh" its marijuana, whatever. |

Been a Yankee fan my whole life but how in the hell can you say anything bad about Jeter? the guy is the classiest and most respected in all of sports. More athletes should take after him. - SABRES 89
Jeter equates to Crosby to me - you can't (or at least couldn't when I paid attention to baseball) go through any game/highlights show without him being shoved down your throat. Not to mention tabloid coverage, etc.
It's more being satisfied to see the Yankees fail than the Jeter part anyways, that was just the headline I copied. |

So i guess you would rather have the crappy network ESPN talk about all the scum bags in sports instead of showing or talking about a guy who has not only accomplished a lot but is also a respectable person as well..........got it.
27 World Series rings gets you all that attention let alone 5 for Jeter himself, give credit where it is due. Crosby can't hold a candle to Jeter |

i actually am a fan of the whole sport in general and love to watch games anytime its on tv no matter the teams. I tell you this because like you said that jeter as been shoved down your throat (here come the puns), i have felt that i grew up with the yankees as a whole being shoved down my throat with the team was always doing well. They remind me exactly of the new england patriots. Theyre the only team in baseball i have a grudge against and like i said i have no allegiance to any team. Sometimes i just like to cheer against the yankees
edit: but on 89's side i respect the guy and love what hes done in the game...the only yankee ive ever liked |

ESPN is the worst channel I have ever watched and I don't watch it anymore, haven't for years. The can give a S$$T less about the NHL and the only time they show Hockey is if there is 15 seconds left in sports center or ESPN news and they might show a goal but WILL show a fight. F$$K them that channel sucks ass. |

agreed. i like to watch it for football highlights occasionally but theres the nfl network for that. I wish hockey had constant coverage of around the league stuff like all the nfl shows they have. At least i cant find it anyway. the nhl network always shows past games which is fine but im not really into watching last years playoffs. maybe nbc sports does and i just dont know it |

Agreed.
My two favorite Yankees. Don Mattingly and Derek Jeter.
there are a lot of others who were class guys. Like Bernie Williams. I liked Mo a lot, Pettitte and Jorge as well. But my two favs are Donnie Baseball and number 2.
and then there is the one I wish would just go away. Aroid. |

89, you know I'm a die hard Red Sox fan but I have to agree, Derek Jeter is all class. One of the greatest athletes of this generation. |

What I don't understand is why people feel they have to attack Jeter ? All he has been is a class act and a good baseball player for 17 years . I am not a Yankees fan and I can appreciate his play on the field as well as how he conducts himself off the field . Folks that insist on bashing him on his last lap around the league really take themselves far too seriously.

I despise the Stankees. Always have always will. But I have nothing but respect for Jeter. He did it the right way. Some reporters get annoyed by his generic answers and staying out of the lime light by keeping his life private, but you know what that's the way it should be.
He was a slightly below average fielder but always made the plays when it counted. His offense is what made him great. The funny thing is he didn't do that one thing great. He wasn't a power hitter, wasn't Ricky Henderson on the base path, but he was consistent. That is what made him great.
If I had to pick the most complete ball player in all aspects of the game Jeter is top 3 in my book. |
