Surprise like, wow I just won the lottery. Or surprise like, I thought I farted and I accidentally poop myself.

I don't know man last year I believe they had one of the top 5 prospect pools in the league. I'm not saying Snow is a good GM don't get me wrong but you look at the prospects and I don't know how you can say its been suspect at best. Dehaan, Lee, Strome, Nelson, Reinhart, Pulock, Pokka,Pelech, Pedan, mayfield, Dal Colle, Ho-Sang etc etc...

To answer your second question I think you will start to see it very soon. Problem has not been the kids drafted its surrounding those kids with good NHL'ers which I think changed this offseason. I don't blame people for being skeptical of the isles but I think they are going to surprise a lot of people this year

They SHOULD have a good prospect pool based on missing the playoffs 6 out of the last 8 years, including several top-10 picks. But like I said, it's nothing new. I think Griffin Reinhart was a good pick, but he's looked awful when I've actually watched him play. Strome I think was a reach in his year. Ho-Sang I think will be a locker room problem. Pulock and Dal Colle look like nice additions, though.

Pretty sure that's the first thing I said you're the one who was saying it wasn't that good. I hear nothing but good things about him from people who actually watch more then a game or two. Not worried about him. Strome is going to be a stud. Just watching his after his second call up you can see it when he had 17 points in the his last 30 games, Kid is a keeper. Jury is out on Ho-Sang and I agree Pulock & Dal Colle are going to be very nice additions. Time will tell my friend time will tell

I don't know why that guy pretty much said the devils didn't improve. The problem I have with the isles is their coach is an idiot, yes they finally have a goalie but one who is or has been often injured. Personally I can't see the isles not riding the crap out of halak till he breaks down and I still don't get the deepest forward group comment ? You are banking on a lot of young players and just because they showed flashes doesn't mean try will be consistent or not have a down year in their second or first years depending in who makes the team. I also think that you got to see more from dehaan then one season to say he will be just as good because he finally had a good season as he might not be able to put it together but he also might I'm only pointing out question marks not really saying any of this happens. I think anyone not named pit and nyr could finish seventh in the metro and I wouldn't be overally shocked by it like many have said this will be the hardest year in a whole to predict the metro.

So you are banking on Jagr, Zidlicky and Elias for more outstanding seasons? Each had great years and the Devils still missed the playoffs. Camallieri is could be a nice pickup but how many games does he play? O/u 40? Does his production add to or just offset the likely decline of those 3 aforementioned 38-43 year old players? Has Havlat done anything in the NHL since about 2009?

Speaking of Halak not being durable, has Cory Schneider, as good as he looks, ever been a #1 goalie in the NHL?

I would take:

Nelson - Tavares - Okposo
Kulemin - Grabovski -Strome
Lee - Nielsen - Grabner
Bailey - Cizikas - Clutterbuck
Conacher/ Martin

Over any other team's depth chart in the Metro hands down.

i'll give you that Capuano is a moron, but the team did have some success in spite of him back 2013 and most of the lousy veterans he inexplicably leans on are gone.

In addition to Halak, they also have a credible backup in Chad Johnson, who will play his share of games.

I'm just saying they've been having high draft picks for the majority of Snow's tenure and have yet to yield any results. I don't but the whole "surrounding them with veterans" thing because, after 5 years or so, most of those good picks should be the veteran core of the team.

As for Reinhart, I really liked him. I was a big fan of his, and really wanted the Flyers to make a run to pick him. I've watched a handful of his WHL games and his performance over the last 2 WJC, and he just seems...I don't know, almost disinterested to me. Very lazy looking with the puck like he just expects to be better because he's Griffin Reinhart. I may be wrong, but he just doesn't seem to have any fire in him.

Strome I mentioned because of his place. He's a good player, but any of Schiefle, Couturier, Zibanejad, Hamilton, maybe even Baertschi and Armia, were players I would have taken. It was a definite reach. I know he played well on a last-place team for a handful of games, but I'm skeptical about his ability to translate that to a full season.

So you're saying that, top-to-bottom, the Islanders forwards are better than the Penguins forwards? Is that really what you're saying?

You've seen the massive upgrades Pittsburgh has made to their bottom 6 this off season, right (Steve Downie not included)?

...can score 10-18 goals, stir up trouble and kill penalties.

Blake Comeau is as useless a player as there is in the NHL.

You mean the guy who scored 24 goals on a horrible team a few years back?

Yeah, I'll take him over the human minus magnet.

Well, we can't all have Derek Dorsett diving all over the world on our bottom-6.

And was waived by the same horrible team 6 weeks into the next season, picked up by another horrible team whose horrible lineup he couldn't crack? Then played about 8 minutes a night for an average team for about a season and a half? Yes that guy.

Oh, I know, and I'm glad. But during last year's playoffs, I was amazed that I could hate a player who was that inconsequential.

Maybe waiving a guy who just scored 20+ goals for you is why you've been in the basement for the better part of the last decade. But I guess you guys had to go and get another Brad Boyes or his doppleganger.

4 times in the Flyers series he did the head snap back when he wasn't even touched. I figured, if he's gonna do that, I was waiting for someone to smash his face into the boards. So not so much diving as pulling the patented Kris Letang move.

And I don't hate the Habs as much as the Rangers because the Flyers kill them in the playoffs.

The only players getting their face smashed that series were the flyers. Giroux was staal and mcdonagh's biatch yo.
