It's tough to get excited for the season with this junk still in the air.

Oh it sucks for sure. But I think every young player coming off an ELC expected to be a top 4 defender or top 6 forward is going to be a tough negotiation.

I think these kids look at a guy like Taylor Hall and think "geez...Hallsy kinda (frank)ed himself out of some cash"...a mere 2 years after signing it.

I think Ryan O'Rielly might have the smartest agent when it comes to maximizing his income.

They first sent out this email over a week ago, and then again yesterday as a reminder.

I believe that they are saying that you will get the package by the 24th. So if you can't go, hopefully you will have it in time.

Also to note, the game on the 27th is in Kansas City. Not a home game. I have a brother there, so I am driving out and going. Should be fun. (for a preseason game)

If you don't get your packet in time, you can print parking passes too. Also, I just bought my KC ticket too. I have MNF tickets for the Patriots game as well. Should be a fun long weekend.

We just need JS back for the regular season but will he be "punished" for missing camp?

No, I don't see Hitch doing that.

Let's just sign him in the next few days so that they can use his pic with a photo-shopped # 17 on his jersey for the season opener countdown.

Probably correct as there are no longer any Brendan Morrow or Derek Roy types to play as a punishment for JS

I had to laugh at this comment. Now we will just have Paajarvi some one else.

Okay new question.

Who makes it as our 7th d that will rotate in/out. Does Cole fill the 6-7 role or does Butler make it? Who do you guys feel it should be?

I guess right now they both make the team with Gunnarrson (is that how you spell it) still recovering from surgery. When he is healthy, who is the 7th?

I believe the desire right now is for Cole to play on the right side on the 3rd line, and for Leopold & Jackman to fill the 6-7 role when everyone is healthy.

If Gunnarrson is out, Butler will be the 7th man.

I was thinking jackman and leo as the 5-6 as they have vet. leadership and experience. isn't jackman an "A" I don't see him sitting except the occasional rest. I think its going to be like last year with 6-8 really making a go for it. Butler is an upgrade over cola even though last year cola did not play poorly. Cole has proven nothing to me and last year with an extended time proved only that he is not quite ready. that's my thoughts at least. maybe hitch can get him playing with someone else besides a 5-6 d man and see what he can do in a different role. that means playing with gunnar or shatty on the 2nd line. can he hack it as a top 4 dman?
lots of choices this year. I really don't like jackman or leopold with cole or butler.

I like jackman. he is solid in his zone and is a defensive d man/brute to boot. cannot move him and he will hack and slash the hell out of anyone in front of the net. with polak gone we need him

Guru had a beef with someone. I think he got into it with a ref or something. Rarely posts here anymore.

Don't know what happened to bcallaway though.....

Wouldn't be Blues Training Camp without Ryan Whitney here to get skated around. When will this guy hang them up? He couldn't crack Florida's lineup last year. FLORIDA!

Still here. Just been super busy at work. Apologies for allowing my priorities to get out of whack.

Plus, there's very little to discuss at this juncture.

Went down to the STC to pick up my season tickets. Lindstrom looked really good. I didn't expect him to be a factor, I think he is going to surprise though. Berglund also looked pretty good.

If some of these guys really contribute, the Blues are going to have 3 very good scoring lines. Getting excited.

Our blogger rarely blogs. I am more busy with life now a days.

I was not happy with the way the refs on here allowed Chicago people to post crap and that the blogger here erased my post defending someone else.

Agreed.

No reason we cannot have four great lines this season unless someone can really say that Lapierre is better than either Lidstrom or Mueller. Of course having a 44.6% Corsi rating with the inventor a coach on the team and trying to give good reason for it wil be special to see.

butler and cole to battle it out for the 7th spot once Gunarsson is healthy?

http://my.hockeybuzz.com/...st_id=16437&user_id=17431

Any of you realize Butler played more than 2x the minutes Cole played last year? I realize the guys ahead of him were a lot different but still that is a ton more.

Guru, the site killed my comment reply for some reason. I'm with you in that I think they may try and move Leopold if Butler and Cole both play well. If they do, I just hope it doesn't go the way of Doug Weight given Leopold has a NMC. Thanks BTW and I'd like to write more but life likely won't allow for that as much as I would like.

Different roles.

Nobody thinks Reaves is better than those two either, but Reaves will make the team and play regularly.

I like Reaves and all but he continues to look far slower than the opposition. It hurts when you cannot role four lines. You see he tries to back check but he is left in the dust. He does not fight t times when it might be needed. He seems to get injured every season. Maybe it will start like last season where his speed looked good at the start and then quickly peetered out.

When the CPR line rolled out that was what a fourth line should be.
