I was just hoping that they'd sit him for a few games and give a guy like Holmstrom a shot, to be honest.

There is a whole other reason I would like to see Holmstrom. Didn't he have a pretty serious knee injury during the lockout season?

The key to the Flyers five-on-five play will be how easily they allow the opposition to carry the puck into the Flyers zone.

This is a major weakness of the team - and with no major adjustments (additions or subtractions) made to the blueline this off-season, I'm very skeptical that it will improve this season.

Yes, he did. He missed the entire 2nd half of the season, I believe.

There's actually a Led Zep test press on eBay. I think it was just a single, though.

There is also a mint condition Minor Threat one up for $6K. But I'm a bit confused, as there were apparently 100 tests made up. When I put out a record, I only ordered 6, and I know that even 20 is a high number.

Cool stuff, out of my price range though.

OK, that had me wondering if the team thought he was sufficiently able to compete an an NHL level. Even if he was healed as far as one can be healed after such an injury.

Changing personel is not the only way to get better in areas such as that. Better puck support, better neutral zone checking and puck pressure would go a long way to shoring up that area. And they don't need to change a single player to improve that.

Agreed. But what they will have to improve upon is execution and consistency. Easier said than done on a game in game out basis, but it is what needs to happen.

He played 75 games and was 4th on the Phantoms in scoring last season. That may not be saying much, as the 3 guys in front of him were Akeson, Newbury, and McGinn. But he seems like a guy who can play an effective bottom-6 role, at least for a few games. Would have been worth a look, to me. But oh well, on to badger construction!

Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you! I mean, if I went around saying, "I was an emperor just because some moistened bink had lobbed a scimitar at me" they'd put me away!

Agreed that there are other ways to improve this function as a team overall.

However, I do believe it's also an individual skill that some defensemen are good at, and others not so much.

I just wonder if the team thinks that the injury has affected his overall game in terms of his ability to step it up to the NHL level. I thought it was somewhat telling that he didn't get a whiff last season.
