Thanks for the link

Matt Peumple is looking to be a promising young prospect.

Tough loss at the end of the 3rd period for the rookie Sens.

One more post from a blogger & the Sens won't even be on the HB home page

really glad to see it, but I would expect nothing less in this tournament..... he was a hell of an AHLer last year, so he should stand out against this competition....

I was thinking a 4th line possibility for next year Peumple (26), Lazar (27) and Neil(25) .... what an in-your-face-line can has the potential to put the puck in the net. They could dominate the other 4th lines in the league

take neil off, put smith on, and i agree.

neil would be nothing but an anchor for those two.......smith brings almost as much physicality, but can actually play hockey.

that being said, i think puempel and lazar are wasted playing 7-8 minutes a night on the 4th line. if ottawa gets off to a slow start, and it looks like they aren't really going anywhere, try the following

mac - turris - ryan
puempel - zibby - lazar
chiasson - legwand - stone
michalek - smith - hoffman

condra - neil - greening ( you could easily move 1 of these guys )

michalek will at least start in the top 6..but i think if its not working you move the kids up and see what happens...i still like michalek and gald he stayed, but hes pretty broken,,will be interesting to see how he is this year...without spezza especially..

Michalek with Stone and Zibanejad is the way to go. They were on a small streak when Spezza was out, but that soon vanished when he [Spezza] came back.

i dont' think it's that he's dropped, more the fact that if ottawa is out of it, it's much more beneficial long term to give the extra minutes to the kids.

i could see michalek playing anyhwere from line 2 to line 4, depending on how he does without spezza. he's got enough offensive ability to play in the top six, but at the same time is physical enough and defensively responsbile enough to play a shut down role in the bottom six.

listening to b.m on tsn today, apparently part of ryan resigning is an increase in his role on the team. interesting comment. btw mac leaning on greening, neil, smith line and ryan getting robbed from being on pp1, i think it make sense for both sides that he gets more playing time, and plays bigger minutes as a whole. that being said, such will also increase his value if and if not he doesnt choose to sign.

i think meth is gone unless he drops in price and term. im thinking thats why bm was clear about trading him before ufa if it comes to that. bm gonna play hard ball with meth. i agree with this. i don't him want for 3+ years at that cost.

EDIT:
also, in thinking with mac's interview from earlier, re: needing to blend his pre 2013/14 style of coaching with last years style..... makes me think he just played greening, smith and neil so much bc they played the way ( which is apparently bad hockey) that he asked / told them to. like he was sending some sort of message to the other players, to build a certain mentality or something: listen to paul, do what paul says, u will play? obviously i wasnt there, and i'm just reaching to make connections btw his interview and how he coached last year, but if thats the case it frackin pisses me off big time.
if he pulls that cripe this year, i'd advocate canning him, even though i think underneath such stubbornness he is a good coach. we just can't have greening, smith and neil playing 15 minutes a nite. just my opinion.

can't wait for oct. 9 already!

I said giving him the C would be the best way to get Ryan to sign long term. Most posters brushed my notion off. It certainly sounds like he wants a leadership role on this team. Give him a nice contract and something to show him that this is his team going forward and we are good to go. He has the qualities to be a very good captain.

It would be way too premature to give Ryan the C just so he agrees on resigning. The truth is he's only played 70 games for the Senators, that's not enough to determine is viability. If he decides that there is a better path for him (there are tons more), so be it. Worse case scenario we trade him at the deadline for a decent return.

My biggest hope for the season is Jared Cowen finding his game so we can play him with EK65. Then we can resign Methot to a 2nd pairing D-man money, as he can play with Wierciotch.

.....And the obvios, resign Bobby Ryan.

Hoping the Sens do what Montreal did & hand out 4 A's until a clear cut captain can be found.

I vote Karlsson, Ryan, Turris & Philips.......Runners up: Methot & Neil.

I thought Kramer and Dzingel stood out a lot too.

Kramer had 3 goals and 2-3 fights.....and dzingel looks like he will be a real solid "grinder" type guy

Well, seems as if I won't be going to tsn anymore. I can't believe they found a writer more naustiating then the douchebags they already employ.
