So, many questions. Travis we barely got a chance to exploit your insight. If I had one last question, it would have to do with your perspective on the importance of the statistical relationship between On Ice Goals per 60 minutes and On Ice Goals Against per 60 minutes. Here are some of the top players we may have an ongoing specific interest., includes centers playing 50 games or more (total 162)

On Ice Goals For per 60 Minutes

1 Getslaf. 4.06
2 Bozack. 3.70
3 Toews. 3.69
4 Malkin. 3.66
5 Bergeron 3.63
6 Couture. 3.62
7 Turris. 3.61
8 Thornton 3.55
9 Seguin. 3.55
10 Krejci. 3.54

11 Crosby. 3.53

20 Spezza. 3.21

22 Kopitar. 3.14

On Ice Goals Against per 60 minutes

2 Kopitar. 1.39
6. Krejci. 1.65
13. Bergeron. 1.76
66. Turris. 2.23
80. Getslaf. 2.32
83. Couture. 2.33
95. Thornton. 2.42
97. Toews. 2.44
104. Seguin. 2.49
106 Crosby. 2.52
112. Malkin. 2.57
155. Bozak. 3.26
162. Spezza. 4.15

good luck travis.... I got to say I don't know too much about stats. I mainly rip on Eugene, talk about King Alfie, do ling combos, and offer trade proposals I secretly know will never go down.

Having said all that I hope we have someone good coming. G.W. has my vote with the girls -- he knows how to draw us in.

Regarding the Sens (I think that's the reason I came on here) .... 5 players I'm most interesting in watching this season (and there is a lot to choose from):

5. Curtis Lazar: Some people could put him #1, some might not even be concerned (mostly non-sens fans) but I think it's only a matter of time. He finishes the year in Ottawa in my books.

4. Alex Chiasson: It's not everyday a point-per-game #1 center is traded for a player that no one had coming the other way. Lots of expectations (at least from fans) for essentially the main piece of the deal

3. Bobby Ryan: Injured last year still was on pace for close to 30G, contract year this season and a fresh line up, don't think 'he's coming in cold'...

2. Mika Zibanejad: This guy can easily be number 1. He's probably one guy flying under the radar coming into camp. I think he's going to not only surprise people in Ottawa... but 29 other teams will know who he is and what he's all about.

1. Jared Cowen: This is the player I'm not "most" excited to see.... it's the player I'm most interested in because his development will play a huge role to the team's D. If he develops his mobility and hockey sense similar to Zdeno Chara before he left to B-town, the Sens will have a great back end for years

What do you guys think? I'm sure I'm missing some players

Our most important player should have been TSN: "here's our broadcast fee offer Eugene: $25M + $1M for every $M you spend on salary over $64M....so you don't cheap out and pocket our money while team quality suffers."

Best of luck, I don't like the Sens very much but I always read your blogs because they were fair, insightful and entertaining.

Well done on what must surely be a proper promotion, Travis. I'll always remember the early days of your blogging with the most fondness, when only a very few of us (goalfie and topshelf being most notable) ever posted on here... the early retool days. It was hard to be optimistic then but we always could count on good blogs and good (albeit limited) discussions.

Well done also in rebuilding the Senators fan base on this site, not the most active bunch of posters but I know you have had a pretty good readership!

Reasons
5. Karlsson sucks
4. Turris is overated
3. MacArthur peaked in Toronto and is now washed up
2. Turris < Khadri
........
1. Karlsson sucks

I was reading on the San Jose blog (Tim Chiasson) that the Sharks are trying to renegotiate their regional tv deal. Comcast holds the rights and are contracted to pay the Sharks $7m a year for another 14 years.

Can't help but wonder about the crying poor Senators who have total annual national and regional broadcast revenues in the range of $55m US. Total Shark broadcast revenues are in the range of $24.75m a year.

So, what is it about this picture that does not make a lot of sense?

Note: only Montreal and Toronto will earn more broadcast revenue this year than the supposedly impoverished Senators.

The team isn't impoverished, that's the mistake you make. Your post highlights that perfectly. The owner is losing/has lost tons of money in his other ventures so he is taking money out the organization to cover those losses.

Not surprised by the news. Figured it was just a matter of time. With that being said, it's a big loss for not only Sens fans but the entire HB community.

Best of luck on your future gig!

You're a rare thing indeed, Yost - an amateur that's better than ALL the pros. Best of luck, and we'll miss you, especially once some Richard takes over your posting duties here and craps all over the place.
