Instead of expansion we'll see 4 teams fold mid-season.

Biznasty wins the Hart.

The Maple Leafs will make the playoffs and battle Boston again in the opening round…as a 2 vs 3 matchup.

That's insane.

Leafs will finish 16th in the East.

My 20 predictions...

1. Oilers are a top 16 team, but 9th in the west.
2. A defenseman will win the Norris for his defensive play (not by points)
3. Expansion will not be announced until after the Cup finals
4. Drouin dominates calder voting
5. Tampa wins Presidents trophy
6. Buffalo selects Jack Eichel first overall
7. Jagr doesnt retire after the season ends
8. Nail Yakupov signs extension mid way through season
9. Randy Carlyle is fired and replaced by Steve Spott
10. A player not named Stamkos or Ovechkin will score 50 goals
11. Trouba will emerge as a star defenseman
12. Clarkson will rebound but fans will still complain
13. A goalie will win his first vezina this season
14. Stasny will fail to live up to his new contract
15. Gibson will be Anaheims starter by the trade deadline
16. Morgan Reilly takes over as Torontos top Defenseman
17. AM radio will see a huge increase in listeners in Canada due to Rogers hockey night lineup
18. Canada will finally win another world junior title
19. The NHL will look into Adding a 19th skater to each roster
20. The Stanley Cup will not be won by Chicago, LA or Boston

Malkin hit 50 during the 11-12 season. Perry year before that

1. Wild win the central, exit in first round to the Avs
2. Oilers make the playoffs and the Sharks do not.
3. Doug Wilson tries to trade Thornton at the deadline, Joe says no, Wilson fired in the offseason.

East
1. Buffalo not a bottom five team, uses the islanders pick to get Eichel second overall
2. Someone other than Crosby wins the scoring title.
3. Montreal represents the east in the cup, P.A. Parenteau is benched by round 2.

Oh and eventually St. Louis regrets having so many former Avs on their team.

I think it was Perry. But any one of Seguin, Kessel, Perry, Crosby could score 50.

If Eklund is right about MacKinnon being top five in scoring, any of MacKinnon, Iginla or Landeskog could do it. Unlikely this year though.

I can't believe that no one has said that the Leafs will raise the Stanley Cup for the first time in 48 years.

Jussi Jokinen will NOT fetch a ton at the deadline. He a decent job in last year's playoff but is less than .5 pts/g and his last trade in 2013 was for a conditional 6th rounder. Dont see the market/value going up much, especially not a ton when hes also making $1M more on current contract

Very true. I blame hockeyreference. Also should note Kovalchuk had (2) 50 goal seasons, '05-'06, '07-'08

Does that mean the Leafs get Raask back to. We'll have to find Andrew Raycroft somewhere.... I think he's chowing on some sweedish meatballs

Taylor Hall leads the left handers in scoring. And the first line actually play a full 82 games. Ben Scrivens becomes a legit starting goaltender. MacT will make moves at the deadline that get the Oil to the show.
