I really liked the
Stone - Turris - Mac line at the end of the season. I think Stoner plays better defensively and I found he was harder on the forcheck (created more turnovers etc.)

At some point during the season I wouldn't be suprised to see

Stone - Turris - Mac
Ryan - Zibby - Chiasson

(Ugh thats a weak Top 6 no matter how you spin it)

it's certainly not an elite top six, but i wouldn't say it's weak. it has potential, and 3 of the guys are under under 23 years old, and the oldest is 29. still lots of room for them to grow. there's also a lot of balance......you don't have an 80pt player in there (maybe ryan has the potential to get close), but you have at least 40 guys who i would expect to get around 60pts.

so, not great, but not weak.

Then you look at the 3rd line with Legwand /Milo /Hoff ,followed by Smith /condra /greening and you can see the depth of the roster,up front .We should be a decent 4 line team ,if the defense and goaltending can get its crap together we should be fine

i agree. none of the lines are great (unless maclean leaves mac-turris-ryan together), but there isn't a line in there that's terrible either......maybe you could argue that the greening -smith-neil/condra line is pretty bad, but even they have some positive attributes, especially if they play 7-8 minutes a game, instead of 14-15 minutes a game.

and we haven't even included lazar anywhere.....although unless a trade is made, i still think he'll only get his 9 games and then be sent back down.

Not overly concerned with the forwards but my god the D is horrendous.

Still suprised they didn't make a deal to bring in another T4D and by the sound of things they be losing Methot shortly (arguably our best defender)

That line is great at around 11 mins a game, for a 4th line there are plenty worse in the east imo

Come on Army. That line is terrible. Smitty is a beauty but Greening and Neil are human anchors.

The defense is just young and lacks experience, but the potential is there. The type of forward units that we should be able to employ should help them out a bit more.No more 20 mins of blind drop passes and lazy backchecks .Add to this the goaltending should also be better ,Anderson and Lehner are better than what they showed last season we all know it .I dont see this team as a bottom 5 team in the east at all .In the west maybe but no way in the east

0 confidence. Anderson will be getting shelled every night (35-40 shots per game)

If all of Weircoch,Methot, and Cowen have a big bounce back year I think the Sens could sneak in and make some noise but thats a big "if"

I fully expect Weircoch and Methot to answer the bell but Cowen looked like Aki Berg out there on most nights

If this happens Maclean will be looking for work, and we will be getting a real shot at Macdavid. Its possible i guess, but not every young defender we have .Is not going to some sort of positive growth. There will be at least a couple that start to get it

I agree that they're terrible the way they were used last year....as a 3rd, sometimes 2nd line (based on TOI), playing against other teams 2nd and 3rd lines.

i think they'd make a pretty good 4th line, playing 7-8 minutes a night, against other 4th lines.

after a slow start wiercioch was pretty darn good last year.......i would go so far as saying that he actually looked better than methot a lot of games later in the season.

if cowen can bounce back, a top 4 of karlsson-methot-wiercioch-cowen wouldn't be bad. again, like our forwards, not elite, but good and young with plenty of room for improvement.

Iam fine with Cowen ,his biggest problem is figuring out that less is more for him .He wants to be a pmd and a big physical shut down guy all at the same time .When its pretty obvious what he should be and nothing more

he was a good soldier back in the day, now he's just a useless hockey player.

greening isn't allowed in the capsule, but i wouldn't object to him being strapped to the outside.

Mark Stone is our Brandon Saad. You heard it here first folks. When I saw his intensity at the end of the season, I knew we had gem on the wing.
