he's not a terrible player, but that contract isn't what you give a third liner. Unfortunately that's what he's being paid and expectations will always be higher than he's ever going to deliver. I predict he's bought out within the next two seasons.

Duchene and Crosby. I don't recognize the others, but I think MacKinnon and Clarkson are also there. |

Im excited to see him but im going to keep my expectations low. These kids need some time especially defensemen. Hopefully he will put some meat on his frame this off season. - Cptmjl
Just the change in game speed alone kills them for the first couple of years- this is why I hate the idea of them having to spend that pointless final year in junior skating all over the rink like Gretzky, and destroying little boys with body checks. It's absolutely f***ing worthless....he'd be so much closer to ready if he had spent last season in Bridgeport. |

First: I'd give a firstborn child to have a cry baby as good as Crosby on this team.
Second: We have no place critiquing anyones playoff beard. |

You have Strait above Hickey? I strongly disagree.
- David_Volek
Calling Strait a "7th dman at best" is hardly high praise.
Sorry but Hickey sucks. I don't really care much about what stats say. He is a constant out of position, out physicaled player who honestly thinks he is an offensive force and it causes him to make all kinds of mistakes. Aside from the fact that he loses every physical battle in the corners and in front, he's constantly jumping up on plays when the opportunity isn't there and hanging his partner out to dry. If there is one play that sums up Hickey, it was against Chicago where he skated the puck up across center ice and instead of dumping it in the corner, he tried a slap shot from the red line on net. The Chi defensemen was in the high slot...already giving up his own blueline and he intercepted the slapper high in his own zone and made a quick outlet pass up the middle catching Donovan flat footed. Donovan got beat 1 v1 and gave up a breakway goal. However, after the slapper, Hickey glided into the Hawks zone and BEHIND the Hawks defender who intercepted the shot. It was a good 50 feet he just drifted and in doing so hung his partner out to dry. I've seen many items like that from Hickey. There is a reason why a top 5 pick never made it with the team that drafted him and was waived. |

Positionally hes pretty sound actually imo. I dont think hes the greatest defenseman in the world dont get me wrong but hes not terrible. Hes also has some room to grow and his game appeared to me to have gotten better as the season went on so ill give him some more time. I dont disagree with a lot of what you posted he does have his moments and he gets physically out matched at times but I look at him as a possible work in progress. This year will speak volumes as far as his future in the NHL. |
