How do you figure. Columbus will be the one to cave. Without Johansson they are not even a bubble team. If they don't have Johansson playing this season they miss the playoffs. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
They are NOT building for the 2014-2015 season. Jarmo just took over 18 months ago...they are doing this the right way.
They have FOUR 1st round draft picks in the past 2 drafts that will be coming up soon. Not to mention some interesting 2nd and 3rd round picks.
The Jackets missing the playoffs in 2015 does very little to set this organization back. They are not focused on a legit Cup run around for another couple seasons.
They did not cave on the term when Ryan wanted more than 2 years.
Trust me, Jarmo and JD will not cave on this. They might move over a half million or so. But that is it. |

So far thats 2 negative value players.....you'll have to do a hell of a lot better than that. - Iggysbff
While I agree Biggs is a work in progress, I don't know how Kadri who had 50pts last season has negative value. |

I think Kadri is a great player and have no idea why leaf fans dump on him so much. |

Most Columbus fans won't want him moved. However, Jarmo and JD need to build this team the right way with TEAM players.
As far as your trade proposal...Jarmo has ran drafts for NHL teams dating back to the 90s with Ottawa.
He is going to want draft picks. - Trust In Jarmo
If the players are pros , then this should not be a problem in the locker room, it's part of the business , yes it's ugly and give a black eye to management, the players agent , and the said player , but it has to be done.
Jarmo and JD are a bit at a fault for not being more open on the amount of money given the Johanson camp conceded on the term.

Which is only relevant IF they develop to be stars which isn't always the case. There a plenty of prospects who never make the NHL and others who end up as role players on the bottom 6.

Ask Ottawa and St. Louis fans how Jarmo did with their drafts.

12 pts in the 2012-2013 season.
12 pts and your ready to give this guy $7 Million per year?
No, JD and Jarmo are not at fault. They are doing the right thing 100%. |

Your right , but if the term is 2 years then Jarmo can go full retard on give him say oh 12 mil for 2 years, if he doesn't pan out then we only have one more year of his ridiculous salary to endure. |

It's public knowledge that Johanson's agent caved into a 2 yrs term , if that is the case then why is Jarmo further humiliating the guy by forcing him to an almost minimalist amount knowing that if he doesn't pan out it's only for 2 yrs.
The cbj won this negotiation session a month ago when the 2 yrs term was agreed upon. |

You could go that route. However, the problem is what if Ryan shi!ts the bed?
Than you can't get top return for Ryan in a trade.
And Ryan isn't going to take a 50% pay it in 2 years if he does sh!t the bed. So than you are forced to trade him in 2 years and get very little in return if he doesn't show up over the next 2 years.
If he doesn't take around 4 million by next month...I would put him on the trading block. |

Quite the contrary ,if he busts in 2 yrs then Jarmo as all the negotiating power he needs , meaning Jarmo will be in no hurry to sign him and his will be forced to take (at a certain degree) whatever offer will keep him the nhl for 2 more years before he hits the market. |

I think your hopes are too high that Ryan will work with jarmo and JD on their next contract....especially when it comes to Ryan taking a pay cut.
I just don't see it with Columbus in 2 years. |

He was part of Ottawa from 1999 to 2002. In that time these are the players Ottawa Drafted that made the NHL:
Marion Hossa, Martin Havlat, Anton Volchenkov, Antoine Vermette, Jason Spezza Tim Gleason, Ray Emery, Brandon Bochenski, Chris Kelly, Greg Zanon and Brooks Laich.
That was 11 out of 41. 27% Made it to the NHL
Out of that 11 how many are top tier players? Answer 2: Hossa and Spezza
2 out of 41 were stars. 0.04%. Take that and multiply that by 4 years and you are still under 1% meaning there is less than 1% chance that he will draft a star in 4 years
In St.Louis he was there for 8 years. Players drafted between then that made the NHL:
David Backes, Lee Stemniak, Carl Soderberg, Nikita Nikitin, Roman Polak, Ryan Reaves, Ben Bishop, T.J Oshie, Eric Johnson, Patrick Berglund, Reto Berra, Ian Cole, Lars Eller, David Perron, Jake Allen, Alex Pietrangelo, Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz and David Runblad.
20 out of 78 = 25% made it to the NHL
6 out of 78 are considered stars and that is generous as I included Schwartz, Johnson. = 0.08%
Again under 1% chance you draft a star within 4 years. It took St.Louis 8 years to get to where they are now. Without Johansson the Jackets fall way behind schedule.

Johanson isn't a superstar....yet, the jury is still out on him, worst case scenario , they do trade him , it's not like the cbj will be getting a bag of pucks in return.

Havlat was a hell of a player and I don't really think it's up to scouts to try and predict which players will not suffer injuries. Either way though losing Johanson would be a big blow but the return helps make up some ground depending on what kind of return the jackets are actually looking for him . Either way I hope he gets moved and to nj of course lol |
