Why does someone have to go? If we "can't" trade them, they could turn out this season if given the chance, and we have several injury-ridden players in our roster? Why get a late pick instead of waiting to see if Brunner, Ruutu and/or Ryder produce? Either way, we'll have roster space in theory next season, and they "should" all do better... Just surprised to see so many agree on this as if it's written in stone

Ideally we ditch Ryder or Brunner and move Zubrus to their spot and get Carter for the 4th line LW spot. I'd like to see Ruutu centering the 3rd line though, he was a stud in the dot a few years back.

i hear yea dude ! i was watching santini interviews earlier (frank)ing love that kid same with quennville he seems like he could be on the rise and will have a nog leadership role on the wheat kings he had a pretty solid year last year and i think that was just his second in the whl

him and jacobs will add some much needed grit to our defense which severely lacks physicality especially if salvador will be missing a good chunk of games because he is old and had troubles staying healthy last year thats not to say we will be seeing either guy for a while but our d corps going into the next two years looks skilled but soft we will have a hard time clearing the crease unless we sign a free agent or make a trade

That's cool. This was the first year I actually watched the draft. I was hoping for Lemieux, after reading some articles , hearing he was the son of Claude , who I enjoyed watching many moons ago on our beloved Devils. I was very surprised, I suppose like a great many, to watch Quenville get selected. Then come to find out he's related to a former Devil also, good news on that fore front and even better to hear he's doing well and a good leader. Why did Elias stop being our captain oh captain?

I like Rutuu, even before he came to NJ. Unfortunately, along with Ryder, Clowe, and I'd even argue Brunner, they're meant for top 9 duties & I'd think Lou would hate to see Rutuu's salary on the 4th line.
