Is trading Leddy going to hurt this team? - SteveRain
Yes, I think so.
He is a good precision passer, and the system needs as many tread the needle fast guys coming out.
If you truly get market or above value, it is a no-brainer that the subtraction comes from a demotion of Versteeg and dumping Rozsival.
I'm just saying...in all the years here when posters traded everybody from Kane to Hammer, I always thought those type moves were never going to get done UNLESS we got a true addition.
I just don't think they are dumb in terms of sending pros packing or breaking up things unless it was a essential subtraction.
If no one is offering nice returns on anybody on the roster they just are doing any of these "big" moves...they will find a way to eat contract before they will launch good pieces for items of value that don't help right now.
...and I think what is "out there" right now is little use to the club. That teams that were trading solid roster parts showed their wares off prior to the draft. There is no "big regulat pro" that the Hawsk are getting teased with whose contract is a value and whose play adds a dimension they are looking to gain from.
Pure fantasy! Everyone in the front offices are on vacation!

Leddy for Victor Rask, Jay Harrison and a 2nd. - BINGO!
So a giveaway ----because the chance of Rask or the second rounder helping before 2019 is less likely than Marty Feldman winning an Oscar. |

Re: Sharp....yeah, I don't care what people say I know 99.9% what I heard is accurate and during my self induced hiatus ,I ran into a VERY good friend who works at United and has met a few of the player's wives/g-friends and #10 is the POS that he is rumored to be. There was never a shoulder or physical ailment to him. His issue was his own doing and all mental. No question about that. I'm sure the discussion surrounding him and his teammates has already happened to NOT back Stanley into a corner. Otherwise, I can't see how he wasn't moved around the draft and prior to UFA when multiple teams had holes. There was a lot of smoke then, and his idiot agent even had to come out defuse those bombs, but Bowman would never say Sharp was off the table. - SteveRain
Sorry, but I don't believe any of this, and all Bowman said was that as a matter of policy he never speaks about trade rumours, neither confirming nor denying, to take that as a denial is only reading into it what you want to see |

DONE ...but again they are NOT trading Yakupov...new coach is very high on developing him.
He is Marcel Dionne like in that he has this tremendous set of rocket blasters but like Dionne, it is gonna take time for him to adjust the feet and hands to the play.
Sure right now he can one time the crap out of the puck, but he's gotta a whole lot more game to gain...and they are not trading the asset.

No way. Yak isnt going anywhere and neither is Saad. Especially not for these proposals |

If the hawks can get a couple of relatively high draft picks for Leddy, say a 1st rounder in 2015, that would give them 2 firsts, and 2 seconds(I'm already adding the Hayes pick) OR say 2nd rounder in 2015 and a 2nd rounder in 2016, I would think Stan would pull the trigger. - Omahawk

Oilers wouldn't trade Yak for Leddy.
We aren't that desperate for D of Leddy's quality, we have 3 or 4 D as good or near as good as him anyway. |

A GM who won't be employed at said draft unless he improves his team now. |

Like Mac T? Well he hasn't exactly been sitting on his ass. Leddy is a quality young D-Man, probably a decent 2nd pair...and we have 4 or 5 2nd pair D-Men....we need a top pair D and none are available.
Also, Mac T is not one to make desperate moves, and Leddy for a 1st would be very desperate indeed. |

Crap - Cimaglia and Kuc now are saying that Hayes won't sign with the Hawks.

Oilers and Blackhawks wont be able to do any business based on Team needs anyway.
The Skinny on the Oilers is this:
We have about 6 million in Cap space and need to resign Justin Schultz, who will probably get just south of 4 million .
We have a Vacant 2C/3C spot, and from what I understand that is not an area you have a surplus.
We have "desperate" need for a top pair D-Man. Obviously Keith isnt going anywhere, ditto for Seabrook (tho I think their is huge interest), and to a Lesser extent NH, but he is your Cap darling so it makes no sense on our end.
Really, Seabrooke would be the guy Mac T most likely called about, but we all know it would have been a very short conversation. |

@MarkLazerus Former 54th picks: Justin Holl, Scott Harrington, Eric Gelinas, Artem Anisimov, and Duncan Keith. Also, Dan Bertram (!).
(frank) Kevin Hayes. I see at best a 2nd line winger and more likely a more skilled Bickell type (Big but would rather not hit anyone) 3rd line winger. 54th overall in the "magic 2015" draft is fine by me. On another note, Sharp to the Caps is verrryyy interesting....who has a low enough cap hit and high enough value to be worth a 1LW?? |

Fair enough... I am curious to know what he will/would fetch as return - RobitailleFAN20
Aren't we all.
Leddy was a 1st round pick and plays behind a sold top 4 in their prime. He is 23 years old.
By comparison, the Hawks acquired David Rundblad (former 1st rounder) who has not seen nearly the ice time of Leddy and certainly hasn't performed remotely as well as Leddy FOR a 2nd round pick in last year's draft.
Before that Rundblad was traded with a 2nd round pick for Kyle Turris (an established player drafted high in the 1st round).
Andrej Meszaros, who was terrible with the Flyers last year, was got for a 3rd rounder by the Bruins last year.
Plenty of reasons Leddy could fetch a first.
Just curious, what research did you use to decide he wasn't? What would Voynov bring in trade? Leddy is easily comparable to him. |

Too many here are evaluating Leddy based on comparisons to those in front of him and the last play of game 7 of the WCF (where a penalty should have been called but that was no excuse for Leddy to stop playing).
He had some solid stretches during the regular season. Age alone is value and he has a lot or room to develop. He will never be physical but a Campbell type defenseman with time isn't out of the question.
I think Sheehy is the main reason he is on everyone's trade list.
