Overall ratings are meaningless even in the game. You can have an 80+ overall player without any good offence or defensive skill

Last I checked, an 80 is an A-, a grade most teachers are frothing at the mouth to give anybody with a glimmer of intelligence and hard work.

The ratings really don't matter. The only stat/rating that matters in that game is SPEED.

The list of fighters you posted is only their fighting rating, not their overall rating level. While I agree the numbers are subjective, the scale they use is specific to their own game engine. While we can all agree 0 to 100 is a "normal" scale, it isn't really the scale they use. The reality is their scale is closer to 60 to 100. 60 being a low level CHL prospect and 100 being the ultimate hockey player.

i bet most of you skate to the hash, spin the outside and force 1 timers backdoor through 4 skates and 2 poke checks. goal 95% of the time. NHL14 was a joke..either that or short side deke bc goalies have no idea how to stay on the post..

Yeah I thought Orr was a little higher, maybe 72? He's not rated 80 on the copy I have, maybe I was sold a bootleg game.

NHL series needs to be brought back on the PC platform. At least we can mod and make the right adjustments as seen fit. Having the series solely on console is the real problem.

This. Plus without any real competition all EA has to do is make a game that is good enough. It doesn't have to be great because most of us will buy it because we like hockey so much and want the updated rosters.

To elaborate for my friends from elsewhere in Canada, America or Europe.

90+ = A+
85-89 = A
80-84 = A-
76-79 = B+
74-75 = B
70-73 = B-

etc. in Ontario

It's a video game. Playability, controls, balance...all matter more than trying to objectively make some system to grade the players.

It's a (frank)ing video game. Getting the rankings wrong is the least of a video game developers' concerns.

What kind of easy ass schools did you guys go to?

Is this Common Core math where we accept that 80 is an A-? 14 years ago when I was still in school 80 was a B- and you would be labeled a "special" C student.
