I think this is going to be our roster by season start unless some big trade comes down. Not looking to debate on softness.or lack of scoring , I am just trying to fit our current players in slots . I don't think Horvat is going back to JR so I am assuming he makes the team. I am going by the rumour that Vrbata plays with the twins. I am going by the fact that Gaunce looks faster. I have Vey at center instead of Horvat strictly on him being the only RHC on the team.
Sedin Sedin Vrbata
Burrows Bonino Kassian
Horvat Vey Hansen
Gaunce Mathias Dorsett
Higgins /Richardson |

This looks pretty much spot on except I think that Gaunce will start in the AHL. Most likely he will be the first player they call up, unless we make a trade of course.
Higgins is too useful to be sitting on the bench IMO. He can kill penalties, score goals, and fits the uptempo style WD will employ.

I am hopping for a trade with Higgins. He is a decent player . I think he gets moved this year and Burrows this year or next.I think Horvat replaces Higgins , and when Shinkaruk is ready he replaces Burrows. |

Bonino had one less point than Henrik last year. He was the only other player on this current Canuck team in the top 100 in scoring . Curious to see how he does this year with maybe more ice time. - VANTEL
That's fine but one guy played for coach all offense, no defense. The other guy played for the opposite. I like Bonino but the guy isn't near Hank.
Its like looking at the production of any oiler |

Higgins is far to good to be a 13th forward. He is better then half the guys in the line up. The canucks would be far further ahead allowing Horvat to return to Jr or Gaunce to toil in the ahl. |

Higgins is the kind of guy you want mentoring your young players. He's versitile up and down the line up. Kills penalties, hustles every shift, keeps his mouth poop. Much rather move Hansen |

I wasn't comparing the two other than the fact they both made the top one hundred. It was giving him a compliment and saying I am curious to see how he does seeing he will have more expectations thrusted upon him this year.
I think he will help us say Kesler Who? Except for Ducker 101 |

What is Horvat going to learn in JR? It has been hinted by Linden and Benning that they expect him on the roster this year. He is doing very well in the U20 tourney right now.
Nothing against Higgins he is a decent 3 rd liner but we can't keep rolling the same aging diminishing line up year after year. It failed two years ago and it failed horribly last year. You have to change and shake up the roster.Trade Higgins free up the roster spot.
Horvat like Drouin was sent back to JR last year , trained hard and I think both are focusing on making the NHL rosters this year. Bo bulked up and now slimmed down , the boy is doing everything he can to make the club. Put him with a decent play maker and I think you will see a 20 goal kid. |

Too bad about the mono. I wanted to see him at camp healthy turning heads. |

If Horvat goes back to Jr, he'll learn how to bust. If he's to become a first liner 5-6 years down the road he has to play in the nhl now & the Canucks must deal with his growing pains now. Otherwise he'll be a career 3rd liner at the very best. After last year they've really got nothing to lose.
I agree...trade Higgins, Hansen, matthias...whoever you must in order to make roster spots if 1-3 young guns prove they can play. Sedins,Vrbata, Hamhuis and Bieksa should be the only ones with guaranteed roster spots.

He's younger and faster but without question has less impact. With the exception of skating, Higgins is better at everything. There are weeks at a time during the season where Hansen is invisible |

I think our bottom 6 is pretty solid once you place guys in their ideal slots.
Higgins Horvat Hansen
Gaunce Matthias Dorrsett
Richardson
Makes me wonder what impact Vey will have on this team

The lockout shortened season was his best season. I personally think he can get back to that same tenacious style of play he's known for, and put up 15-19 goals a season. |

Yeah I think that's the wrong decision. We went from having a elite passer, elite two way player, and a forechecking third line centre down the middle to now having three playmakers? They're gonna lean on Burrows quite a bit to pick up the slack on the second line, but not having a two way centre in the top 9 is a glaring hole IMO. |

Hansen had 16 goals 3 years ago . he is young and fast . Put him on a line with Horvat and Vey and I think he gets back to at least 16. |

Vey will be on the team . He is a good puck distributor and Benning would look stupid to give up a draft pick and then lose him to waivers. Pencil Vey in third liner . |

I don't like our first line of Sedin Sedin Vrbata (surprise surprise ) I think the second line of Bonino Kassian Burrows will be the best second line in the teams last 5 years. Horvat Vey Hansen will be a good third line. Bo is responsible at both ends, Vey is a good playmaker. I think Higgins Hansen battle it out for the other wing. |

The loss of kes hurts our pk more than anything. Vrbata will get his goals and so will bonino eith on the pp. Bonino actually can pass the puck therefore I also believe the second line will be better.
