Geno is a way better PKer than Sid. In his games for Russia he is one of the top guys, he's created havoc every time he's been allowed to do it for us too. Sid doesn't look anywhere near as natural out there as Geno does. - cygnus41
This is debatable. |

When Geno is ON he turns Mario like and looks like the best player in the world.
"debatable" as well lol |

Most centers in history that were considered elite killed penalties.
From what I have seen, 71 is better than 87 on the PK. For whatever reason, 87 looks kind of outta sorts on the PK.
Its kind of a bummer we have 2 elite centers that don't kill penalties consistently. |

Seriously comparing games in Russia to the NHL? Euro isn't nearly as physical as the NHL. Bump Malkin in the corner after a play and he takes a dumb penalty and shuts down.
During the cup years Z and Datsyuk were usually on part of the PK. They were pretty good at it as I recall. |

I'd give Crosby and Malkin some PK time sporadically. I don't wanna see one of them getting shut down for 3-4 months due to a broken foot. |

Screw it, top PP unit is now Crosby Malkin Martin and Letang. We no longer kill penalties in our end. |

I did the numbers many blogs ago, but Sid and Geno both played on the PK far more often before Sid had his concussions and before he got hit in the face.
Doesn't mean it wouldn't pay dividends, especially in certain situations, but I understand the fear.
No matter what, Goc/Sutter/Spaling/Dupuis is a pretty nice PK foursome to lean on, and if they're the core group there's less reason to dress Adams.
Interesting Adams stat - he was 34th on the team in even strength time on ice per game, behind call ups like Drazenovic, Ebbett, and Zolnierczyk. |

Thats even more sad that he was so noticeably bad given he wasnt on the ice for a lot of minutes. |

I'm starting to think the joy was lost in it. That team you can see they're out there really enjoying themselves. THe past couple playoffs they've looked so uptight.
Hopefully the fresh faces in the locker room and a new coach can rejuvinate this team. - stackthepads
I really hope thats the effect of all the change that's happened. Would be nice if he had more guys up from the AHL though. They always play their tails off....we just dont have the talent down there right now.. |

Huge fail here. 8/7/87.... How could everyone forget about it? And we complain teammates don't stick up for him... Shame on all of you! |

You're telling me. I'm so bored I just created an all-time Mighty Ducks roster from the trilogy on NHL 14. It was actually somewhat difficult to figure out since they only had three actual defensemen over the course of the trilogy and Bombay only rolls out 3 lines. I had to relegate Russ Tyler to the blue line and use those scrubs from D1 that didn't make the cut for Team U.S.A. in D2 to make it all work. Now, if only I can figure out how to program Dwayne Robertson's lasso into the game...
Anyways, happy birthday Crosby. Stop getting old. You have about three more cups to win before you end your prime. |

Not sure about primes...but i think Sid and Geno still have 7 more years of domination, barring injuries. Maybe well get Sid two good wingers by then.. |

Well...who is the net front presence in that group?
Certainly just about the most skilled group - although I might have Malkin in for Francis (as much as I respected and loved Francis as a player) - if I was going for the most skilled set of 5.
I'd probably go with:
Tocchet Crosby Jagr (with Tocchet in front of the net)
Mario Coffey
Mario (in his prime) could certainly play the point...with he and Coffey you have a right and left hand shot back there.
The only downside is you have two left handed shots on the sides (assuming Tocchet in front). |

Yeah I remember the Stars of 99' Their D were legendary at the time for blocking shots. Modano, Hull, Lethonen, Neweyndyk, those guys didn't drop to the ice, neither should 87 or 71. Especially during regular season. |

This is a good starting spot when making a lineup. I always forget they aren't all ambidextrous. |
