Why does everyone assume this is how it works?
The habs could simply come up with a bunch of comparable players such as Pietrangelo or even Karlsson for example. And tell the arbitrator to look at how much those guys make. - Pecafan Fan
Not really. These 2 were at their 2nd contract and did not have access to arbitration. The only comparable is Yandle, who signed for 5.25M per for 5 years. |

Why? - Pecafan Fan
As I posted, I had a feeling it wasn't clear. I was agreeing with you. What I meant is that with a younger, less accomplished player, the team may rip him apart to try and keep the award down. That isn't the case here. |

Someone made a valid point on twitter. Subban's side was presenting their case first, and with the breaks taking place it's not likely that the Habs have presented their's yet. So it's odd that Subban would seem unhappy at this point. |

Yeah I don't think Bergevin is there trying to tear Subban's game apart in front of an arbitrator.
It makes no sense at all. They're talking business, not what happens on the ice. |

I'd have to go look again. I don't think it was him though. |

Personally I'd always exit a court room looking stern. Even if you were happy with what just transpired, you look stupid if you come out looking anything but deadly serious. |

No, because most of the players and/or management are not happy with that process. Wich is why most teams ended up working a deal before reaching that point. |

On the other hand, it's been 3 hours of sitting around listening to people talk, and it's not even over. I'd look unhappy too. |

Players who have been through it before repeatedly say that it's a bad experience. They often come out saying things like "You don't like hearing things like that said about yourself." |
