Why would teams trade for him if he's got a 2 year deal making him UFA afterwards ? Sign him 1 year. If he really doesn't want to stay trade him next summer to a team that's willing to give him the money he wants.

MB would be dealing with a limited list of partners from a weakened negotiating position that would only get weaker as time goes by. you're unlikely to create a bidding war in that scenario.
