so you'd be willing to lose him over $500,000 AAV?
come on... - DoubleDown
You have to draw the line somewhere. Why not 9.5? Then why not 10?
Letang just signed for 7.25M. He won a cup. Is PK worth that much more than Letang, and remember he has 2 years as RFA, so around 7M per.
7,7,9,9,9,9,9,9 = 68 for 8 years, 8.5M per.
That's my final offer. Sorry. |

Why?
If he's so great and sought after and doesn't want to be in MTL, MB has 2 years to move him for the best deal possible.
I'd say he's doing what's best for the future of the team, no? - pete26
Why would teams trade for him if he's got a 2 year deal making him UFA afterwards ? Sign him 1 year. If he really doesn't want to stay trade him next summer to a team that's willing to give him the money he wants. |

Subban for Hall - EssuieToutJeune
We need RW's, Eberle
Edit: honestly though if they traded Subban, that's a slap in the face to Price after trading Gorges. The very foundation of everything we know could be coming to an end... |

Fixed. If you don't pay the RFA years, you need to pay the potential cap increase and his prime years

Bergevin would have very little leverage in trade negotiations pete. if the Habs trade Subban, i promise you they're losing that trade. - DoubleDown
2years Adam.
He's not under any duress, if PK is so great, MB's phone should be ringing off the hook.

We need a top 6 LW as well, Bourque won't keep up. While it's nothing great we already have Gallagher and Parrenteau on the right |

What's the point?
If he wants to be a Hab long term, he could be one I'm sure.
If he doesn't, good by Joe, he's gotta go.
It's pretty simple really. |

time doesn't change the circumstances peter. everyone would know that MB has to trade Subban, which weakens his position. further, if Montreal cannot lock down PK, then you've got to assume that there are a lot of teams out there who couldn't lock him down either. i don't think this is a guy who's dying to play for the Panthers, Predators, Blue Jackets... MB would be dealing with a limited list of partners from a weakened negotiating position that would only get weaker as time goes by. you're unlikely to create a bidding war in that scenario. |

You get less for trading a pending UFA....that's as simple as that and why they shouldn't sign him 2 years. |

Teams would've had to wait a long time to get Lindros as UFA...plus he was way more overhyped than PK is. |

2years, 7.25per.
If he doesn't want to sign long term, hold on to him for 1.
If his value goes up, trade him next summer before the draft, if it goes down, he's (frank)ed himself.
MB is in the drivers seat on this one.
Not to worry. - pete26
if they go with what the arbitrator decided, it's one year.
The player chooses to go to arbitration, but the team decides the term. Habs chose 1 year. |
