Who's looking like the villian right now
Habs or pk - MTL1
i don't see how you can point the finger at one or the other without knowing what was offered. personally, i find it very hard to believe that PK wasn't offered a huge deal. i don't think Bergevin would be (frank)ing around like that. |

"Within 48 hours". - hscesq
ah. so it's unlikely that a deal would be reached before the announcement. |

i would assume that the hearing is cordial because Bergevin has absolutely nothing to gain by "winning" the settlement. |

I'd say it's dependant on how close they were last night. If they were on the verge, then maybe all they need is another 24hours or so. |

I would be OK with 4-5 years.
I think 5 years would be perfect. |

MB's stock is either going to hit an all-time high in my books, or we're in for a bit of a market crash.
We shall wait and see.
All signs point to market crash. |

Why? that only ensures you'll be breaking the bank for a 30 year old defenseman on a long term contract down the road...
From the habs perspective, you're looking at 8 years for $72M today...in 5 years from now (if he keeps up the level of play) as a UFA he'd get a lot more than that...likely the equivalent f $11M or $12M in today's money (meaning likely more if cap keeps going up).
Plus, think about it...that's a long term contract for a 30 years old...he'll have 3 or 4 good years left and then you are still paying top dollar on his decline... |

so then you completely support PK holding out for that deal then. |
