I can't wait for PK to sign and see Habs fan cheer about how good PK/Habs/Bergevin/Deal is.

edit: Also can't wait for EK's blog rippin' Therrien and MB

I think they'll do the smart thing and sign him before the hearing to a long term deal.

It's only gloom and doom if they don't.

- noffsin6

No it's not.

he's still got 2 years to go before he becomes a UFA.

He should play out the 2 yrs to unrestricted and say screw Montreal.

I think a ton of money will help him forget whatever's said in a hearing.

that being said the habs would have even less leverage next year.

I think they'll manage to get a deal done before that though and I hope it will be a very long oe so we don't have to discuss this again until 8 years from now when stee gets his high school equivalency

- basementfloor

ok but then why not just give him a lot of money now? why go through the hearing? i'm not saying that the relationship would be irreparable. i'm just saying that if the two sides can't get this done now, i don't see what would be different next year. i think it's real simple. if PK and the Habs want a long term deal, it will happen in the next 24 hours. if that deal doesn't happen, it's because one side isn't interested in a long term deal.

no. since he's too dumb to understand anything he's incapable of preconceived notions and thus unsurprised by everything.

I agree....although you do realize that this is how it usually plays out. No big surprise.

Why give him all the money in the world now when you can still save a bit and have the power to do so ?

Because the notion that they will still have the power is a tenuous one at best.

Or maybe MB thinks it will cost him less to go to arbitration than sign a long term deal right now. Next year at let say 7.5M through arbitration, than sign long term at 9M per.
