i wonder if Canadian players are paid in Canadian or US funds. i know their salaries are in US figures but the guys living in Canada need Canadian funds to live on and the team's revenue is in Canadian funds. so i wonder if the team just pays them at the current conversion rate in CAD. these are things that keep me up at night.

You pretty much answered you own question...

Cap is USD and the overall revenue of the league is USD. So players negotiate their contract based on USD.

The only ones who really care about the CAD are the Canadian team owners as they must pay their players higher. My guess is the GM's don't even bother to look at the conversion rate especially on cap ceiling teams. Maybe Winnipeg is different though. They struggle financially.

WTF HHH thoughts?
- AGalchenyuk27

Oakland needed another starter. Did you see Hamel's number since the trade? Trading Cespedes, they needed another RH bat, so Gomes is thrown in. Cespedes is salivating at the thought of that wall 81 games per year. Good for both IMO.

I doubt the wall is overly pleased with it though.

True. But they do have other guys having big seasons insofar as power goes, and they really needed a frontline starter.

Which is why they used to be allowed to match offer sheets in CAD but that was 20 years ago...
