This is a reach. Crosby got max dollars then as he would now which only goes to show the point that Subban's deal will be close to 9 if not over. Everyone will female dog about it (Just like Carey's) and then everyone else will catch up and we'll all be happy about that deal down the road. You don't get rid of players like Price and Subban over 1 or 2M.

Yes, this is so true - but so few people put it perspective at the time of confirmation. I can understand if a team is on the brink of legit contention for the cup and you have to lock a guy into big-big numbers it makes it difficult if, perhaps, the team needs to add one or two bodies to put them "over the top".

Anybody caring about their actual salary is missing the point. Cap hit is where it's at...

But you said the Kane is making way more than Sid, and he is not.. but whatever..

I'm saying 9 million is too much, on a blog about PK.

Would you rather talk about sandwiches ?

I agree with you. Cap hits go out the window when it comes to superstars. You pay them based on salary, not cap hit. Just because some guy has a low cap hit because he gets paid till he's 45 is ridiculous. Which is why it was fixed in the last CBA.

Consequently, to sign a superstar, you now need to dish out the dollars and have a high cap hit. That's what large part of the lockout was about.

You don't compare apples to oranges because you find it more convenient.

yeah this is pretty much what everyone agreed with coming out of the lockout.

superstars would make tons of money, younger guys wouldn't and the ones in the middle would battle for the scraps
