Why does everybody write in such absolutes?
And nobody knows about the contract talks and is once again shamelessly villainizing the habs management which imo has done a great job up until now.
Yet we jump to the conclusion that it is all Molson and Bergevin.
And my favourite: "how can this club survive without subban?"
Wtf guys seriously there are so many potential trade scenarios that can work out in the habs favour. Subban has far from proven that he is worth 8+ a year long term. These salaries that players are being handed out are disgusting and the league can't lock out the players after every labour talk.
GMs can't be saved from themselves and it is a matter of time before the Sedin contracts, Hossa contracts, Phaneuf and Clarkson contracts seriously confine teams from doing anything.
Subban at 8+ is a risk. I can easily count over ten players I'd rather have for that money than Subban.
On the other side of the coin, it may be management's fault. But at what point is Subban's ego not a part of it either?
Takes two to tango.

Please tell us who these players are that you would rather have. Then tell me how you go about acquiring them.

Telling you who they are is the easy part.
And yes acquiring them is the hard part. All I'm saying is that Subban doesn't deserve to be paid like a champion (doughty, toews, kane etc etc) |

But he's the best we've got, and so paying him like one is far better than losing him. Cause we're up poop creek if he's gone. |

The hidden benefit of signing Subban to big money though, is that the Rangers will be strapped for money once McDonaugh's contract is due.
Oh ya, thats right, McDonaugh didn't ask for max salary for long term when he hasn't proven himself yet |

You can't compare those contracts though. They were signed under different circumstances with a lower cap. |

So you think the habs should make Subban the highest paid dman in the NHL?
I don't want the habs to lose him don't get me wrong. He is my favourite player on the team. But his camp seems to me to be greedy |

Nobody knows what was offered by the Habs and what are PK's demands. People need to chill out and stop making assumptions that Bergevin is trying to alienate Subban. |
