Oh, I really don't know. But if I had to guess, I would think $7.5-$8M a year and anything 5 years or more would suffice. - hscesq
I would bet you and MB have a similar idea, which is why they're in this situation. I would give him 8x9.5, easy. |

Has any team ever walked away from an arbitrated award?
Sure. Boston walked on Kristich, who promptly signed up for the Maple Leafs Retirement Program. - 3M
2009-2010 - The Blackhawks win Stanley Cup. Young Goalie Antti Niemi a RFA elects to go to Arbitration. His main argument was winning the Stanley Cup. Awarded 2.75mil annually, the Blackhawks walk away making Niemi a UFA.

What if he asks for 9.5M per for 5 years or more?
Because most probably, Habs would be ready to sign a deal like you just mentionned, don't you think? |

You think so? I'd love to have the solid two way game on the Leafs.
Of course, YOUR team didn't give up 40 shots a game last year. |

Since you're asking.
I'd give him 8 at at a cap hit of 7ish, back loaded.
If he doesn't want that, he can go piss up a rope. - pete26
This isn't 2008 anymore. You've got to pay superstars superstar money to lock them up long term. Especially their prime years. |

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Lots of racetrack still to be run with Subban and MTL but it's far from an ideal situation.
@TSNBobMcKenzie: The longer Subban goes without a new long-term contract in MTL, logic suggests the odds increase of him going to UFA or being traded.

Well everything is always two steps forward one step back, and we've had a flurry of good decisions from management over the last little while.
This kind of feels less like a step, and more like falling backwards off a cliff, but maybe that's just because I have Subban jersey |
