He's asking for 8.5 in arbitration. For 2 years.
Which would lead him to be UFA, asking for whatever the hell he wants at that moment.

He wouldn't sign for 8.5 long term is what I understand right now.

- Pecafan Fan

The player doesn't get to choose the term when they elect to go to arbitration, the team does. And they chose 1 year.

Meh...not my money. Give him whatever he wants. Give him a blank cheque, a VIP suite at Club Supersexe or whatever it's called, a preferred-client account at all the escort agencies in town, and a connection to some prime Colombian cocaine.

Not my point. The process is what it is, regardless of who the player is.

I have no idea why Subban doesn't want to sign. He's appreciated by all his teammates. All their "Ultimate Players" look like him.

Oh Ek...

Another issue is coaching and how PK feels about the current coaching situation Montreal. We saw last year and the plows how PK grew frustrated by his playing time or situation she was being put into.

“I recall this incident when I was playing – Mattias Ohlund came across and just leveled someone with a great bodycheck, which is a great part of the game that should be celebrated. Next thing you know he’s got some guy that can’t even skate chasing him around the ice. That isn’t right, that’s not the way our game is played. But it’s a mentality that has been coached in, talked in – you know, Coach’s Corner influence. We see it in the playoffs all the time; extremely hard hitting, and there’s no fighting. And I’m not sure that the intended use of fighting – which is to protect our stars – actually works. I think it’s something that as we go down the path the NHL is going to have to look at.”

ridiculous.

Also, I keep reading things like "Has the organization learned it's lesson from a couple years ago? We shall see..."

Probably memory loss, but I don't see what they are talking about

No, they need to be selective. Just tell all the immensely talented black guys on the team that they can pick up their blank cheques tomorrow afternoon.
