So if Pegula does win the bid to own the Bills, how long will the due diligence process take this time?
- buffalofan19

With the season starting soon and the likely hood that the sale won't materialize until (my best guess) week 6 at the earliest, Feb 10th.

And he should do what he should have done with the Sabres initially, clean house.

At this point, he might as well wait a year to clean house. They don't even have a first round draft pick to work with next year...unless someone is willing to give one up for Spiller the way the Colts did for Trent Richardson, which is doubtful.

That was my point.

Don't wait and give them a year.

You have til Feb 10th to show your worth.

If not there's the door.

Blowing things up with a new regime, and no 1st round draft pick is a tall order though.

just curious as to why the bills need the house cleaned...both whaley and marrone, as well as Hackett are only entering their second year

I have zero confidence in anyone in the current organization.

It's been a Micky Mouse run organization for far too long.

If they don't succeed this year, they may very well be gone. They gambled big time on the Watkins pick (which I like, btw). If it doesn't "work", it will be because of bad quarterback play, which can't really be materially addressed because they gave up their first for next year already.

They'd better hope they go 8-8 or better.

And I don't see them as an 8-8 team.

It's like the Sabres. We are second guessing every move. I like Whaley, I like the move to get Watkins. I think Marrone is saying the right things. I don't think a house clearing is in order since every 3 years there seems to be a house clearing. You have to give him at least this season do judge.

Its really tough to say with them. They have the weapons now. Brown, Spiller, Watkins, Williams, Goodwin, Woods. They just have to put it together.

The problem though is that they've screwed themselves unless they make the playoffs. They have a huge question mark at quarterback, and no first rounder to address that issue if Manuel falters again this season.

Nothing about anything in that organization makes me want to give a flying fornication about that team.

I don't think they have screwed themselves though. I cant even say Manuel faltered last season. If faltering you mean not staying healthy then okay, but as a rookie he showed some promise and he also showed that he was a rookie. If he progresses they don't need a QB, if he doesn't progress then there are QB's that will be available in the early stages of round 2. You don't need to be a high first round pick to be a good QB in this league, you just have to be the RIGHT QB.

Nick Foles-3rd round selection
Andy Dalton- High 2nd round selection
Drew Brees-High 2nd round selection

Not having a 1st round pick next year hurts but by no means does it kill them if Manuel doesn't work out.

We have no idea what EJ can be. He is young, he may surprise, he may disappoint. You can't say its not interesting. This is the most interesting this team has been in 10+ years.

There are much better things to do on Sunday's than put time and effort into that team.

Paint drying is one of them.

Take a look at where the QB's who made the playoffs this year were drafted. You might find it surprising how few were drafted in the first round.

Your opinion. I will be driving into Buckhead in Atlanta to watch them at the Bills backers bar.

Manuel's accuracy was sub-par at best, even when healthy, and basically the same exact issues that kept him from getting over the hump at Florida State were magnified at the NFL level. One needs only to watch his 2012 game at NC State to see what I mean. The problem with Manuel is that there was very little gap between him and Thad Lewis, which is unacceptable for a first round draft pick.
