One of them via trade because of another aforementioned coming here, and the other because the Sabres offered him well above what anyone was willing to for even one year.

Look, I partially agree with you. I think the Sabres are in a better position in that regard. They're definitely getting players to listen. But "players want to play here", to me, means that Buffalo is a destination, and it's still far from that. It very well may change in a couple of years, but it's not there yet.

And doing all of this with an owner that is clueless and a coach that is "bad news"

IMO we are in a great spot right now

"Clueless" or not, I don't think it has anything to do with it. It's more the fact that he's probably third to Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban when it comes to owners willing to throw money around. Like you, I think they're in a good spot personnel wise. I still have doubts about whether it will translate to championships because the there are still major question marks about the people running the show, Pegula included.

Sure, he's made mistakes. Every owner has.

Is he a fan? Fukc yeah, he's a fan. But he's a fan who wants nothing more than to bring this city it's first major championship. I'm not blindly defending the guy, but he's owned the team for what, 3 1/2 years? Give him a chance.

It just seems that certain people on here aren't happy with anything this franchise does.

Have we won a Stanley Cup yet? No. But, for Christ's sake, give this ownership group, GM and coaching staff a chance before we start the vilification process.

This is a hockey message board, our team, the Sabres, just had one of the worst seasons in recent memory. Moves, potential moves are going to be analyzed, some will like, some will be cheerleaders (look in the mirror), some will like some moves, not hip on others. Some will have no clue but will play devils advocate. I have no idea how Bryan Trottier will do as an Assistant Coach but he has been out of coaching for 12 years so one can look at that. One can look at why it has taken a bit long to get Nolan's A. coaches signed up. I guess we can look at the worst team in the league coached by a guy who had a tough time getting an NHL job hiring a guy who hasn't coached in 12 years and look through your rose colored glasses and say yesssss!! Cup in two years!! Talk about how great things are and just put potential lines together in 2017 all day long and how Nolan will no doubt win another Jack Adams award because because he is just the best and all the team's in the league missed it but TP knew more than them.

I dont doubt he wants nothing more than to bring a Cup to Buffalo, but it would benefit him greatly to stop meddling in the "hockey" side of stuff as much as he does.

I said to give the (frank)ing franchise a chance with all the new people involved with it!

That's what I said.

I'm NOT sorry, especially to whiners and cry babies, that I've chosen to stay positive about this team.

Let's all be like you on here and how boring it will be.

: Awesome move today Gil!!

Gil: Wasn't it Gran magus!!

Gran Magus: The Sabres always get it right!!

Gil: Terry Pegula knows his stuff, and so does Ted Nolan. I cannot believe no one else wanted to hire him in the NHL but we did!!

Gran Magus: I know, so what are our lines going to be, we haven't done those in an hour or so?

Gil: Not sure, but Reinhart is going to make the team

Gran Magus: Bryan Trottier is a HOFer and Ted Nolan makes no mistakes so he will no doubt be an important cog in our first Stanley Cup

Gil: That is truly enlightening GM and I coundn't agree more. I loved Bryan Trottier as a player and the fact that I'm sure HE decided to take 12 years off of coaching will refresh him and make him an even better coach, what say you GM?

Gran Magus: I coudn't agree more Gil, spot on. Time for lines in 2017 yet Gil?

Grand-Magus: I think most on here would prefer to have a positive conversation than negative.

Gil: Nope, you're wrong. Team sucks. Nolan sucks. Owner sucks. You suck. God, I hate this franchise. Maybe I just hate my life.

Get over yourself.

I'm pissed for allowing myself to get dragged down to your level.

Won't happen again, that's for sure.

I think most would rather an analytical conversation rather than one where we all put on our simple rose colored glasses. Those conversations ended in 3rd or 4th grade I think.

You are constantly attacking anyone who critiques anything about the Sabres oh holier than thou. I'm wondering if your last name's not Gilbert.

I think he's attacking the people who make blanket statements such as "Noaln is bad news" or "I have heard bad things but won't share"

It's like the people who claim every player has slept with player X's wife, it's mostly untrue rumors that somehow become definite facts

I know that people have sources, and I appreciate that which they bring to the table. I think, for the most part, it facilitates positive conversation as well. We all have our own opinions on what could be different/better/the reasons are behind decisons or lack thereof.

We all want this team to be successful. We have the common goal and dream. Thankfully, it seems, we have a GM that has a plan that is current and he is making decisions that are benefiting the future.

It's the defeatist attitude the fans of buffalo sports have come to adopt. If its not the big, bold, flashy move/hiring its not good enough.

Are we all done acting like children?

Some people here have sources and have given plenty of good information. If you don't believe what they have to say, that's fine. But it's not necessary to say that they don't know what they're talking about, or that their source is wrong, etc.

Anything mentioned on here should be taken with a grain of salt. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If yours is different, good for you. Find a way to express it without saying the other person is wrong. There is no such thing as a wrong opinion. Facts and opinions are two different things.

I'm going to get off my soap box now.

Funny thing is, I was 100% against the Nolan/Lafontaine hires to begin with. I wanted fresh faces here.

However, we have a new GM, tons of assets, and a coach players like. It's 100 times better than racing for 9th with Vanek and Miller
