What I'm looking for are guys that can fill in the holes that Nolan has as a coach. And that's not a knock against him, every single coach has areas they aren't good at.

This is what we seem to know/have heard:

He's not a schematics guy.
He's a good evaluator of talent.
He's good at motivating guys.
Players like him.

So that means we need:

Someone that can run the PP
Someone that can run the PK
Someone that can teach the youth

I'm sure these people exist somewhere. I just hope it happens soon.

Someone that can teach the Youth.....Uhmm....ok...
Wake the frank up Sabres fans...this guy coached in the Memorial Cup, battled through the worst season in Sabres History, raised a Son who has 2 #(hashtag)muthafooka Rings, named by the GM's of the league as " Coach of the Year", in his first year, won singing appraisals by players who have gone on to win various awards.....
and not just that, of course,......to any sensible Sabres Fan, who endured last season..........They got soooo......much better. Anyone who says Nolan is 'such and such' a Coach is full of nonsense. He gets it....thats why Murray hired him for 3 fookin' years.

The video is pretty great. After he knocks out the computer he says something like "now we've gotta watch the Canucks win it all."

They had a few guys overachieve, but that's what Nolan is good for. He's proven that.

So, hockeybuzz posters, who is/are this year's Buffalo Sabres overachievers?

I'm going with:

Chris Stewart.

- grand-magus

Overachievers has a bit of a negative connotation to me. In my mind it means "this player's not so good, but they'll have a good year", so it limits the choice to "scrubs".

I know the team is filled with said scrubs after a year like last year, I just protest your verbiage, good sir.

I protest your protest!

Not really, but giving the boot to Scott, D'Agostini, Tallinder, McBain, Omark (That happened), Konopka and Sulzer..I think we did a pretty great job giving the boot to the scrubs.
