I'd take Penner on the Jets. Want him to stay in shape? Make him play in front of friends and family! He's got two cups and is a big body, I would see nothing wrong with giving him a chance.

I think the Gooch is KHL bound. He didn't impress last season and that was in a UFA contract year to boot.

Setoguchi to the Islanders makes literally zero sense. They already have, like, 15 forwards on NHL contracts (Tavares, Okposo, Grabovski, Kulemin, Nielsen, Grabner, Strome, Nelson, Lee, Bailey, Clutterbuck, Cizikas, Conacher, McDonald, Martin). I'd take Setoguchi over the last two; I'd take the first 13 forwards over Setoguchi.

If the Isles are going to take a flyer on a UFA, it'll be a defenseman- guys like Sami Salo, Derek Morris, or Raphael Diaz make sense.

Two flyers got great value for richards and carter and had the flyers kept them thwy would be short2 cups. Bryzgalov was overpaid but he was dtill a good goalie. Masons stats are not that much better than bryz in philly.

Bobrovsky won the vezina in a short year playing 38 games... not a huge accomplishment. And that playoff performance was disgusting.

Isles should be going after every guy out there, grabo and kulemin are not big upgrade for a team that was 5th worst and had already given up 1st rounder next year. They remind me od avs in 2011 when they held 2bd overall pick and just few days later traded 2012 first rounder for varlamov..

In 2012 i expected holmgren to win adams, really at first his trades od carter and richards and sign of bryzgalov look phenomenal, giroux played amazing with hartnell and jagr, bryz was solid all was looking good and jackets were dead last with carter and la traded for carter and barely made playoffs, but kings won cup and another one this year...it was a fluke
