Raymond came in as a way better player .setaguchi should get nothing more then a try out contract. |

New Puck moving Dman. - Iggysbff
Well, Dee Karl thought Kyle Wellwood would make a great puck moving defenseman. |

completely disagree thats why mason had no interest from any teams besides a tryout from the leafs that lead to his one year contract. |

Than why haven't they announced it? And why are you the only person who knows? It does make some sense because he is a really good possession player. |

I wanted the Wings to take a flyer on Penner a few years ago. But he got benched by the Ducks last year. The last thing we need is another useless body taking a roster spot away from a better kid. If he gets more than a camp tryout I'll be pissed. |

Can't see Penner in Detroit at all. He doesn't really try hard and Detroit's not that kinda place. |

Those guys are getting older. Zetterbergs herniated disk is not good. It will probably shorten each season and he wont be the same. Datsyuk should play more games. Alfie gone.(most likely) Franzen and Cleary getting even older. I don't see them any better than last year. - JVR_42_PK81
As a Wings fan, the aging argument is laughable at this point. I've been hearing it for way too many years now. The fact is the team is younger than it has been in years (alfie, Bert, Sammy helped up the avg last yr). Aging, it happens to us all, every day.
I think it's hard to say one way or another how good/bad the Wings are because of all the injuries they have faced. They lead the league in man games lost to injury since the lockout. Most other teams wouldn't have made the postseason if they were in the Wings shoes. That in itself makes me think they are better than what some think, but some would call it me being bias.
As for Penner. Really?? I have a very hard time seeing or believing it. Even if Alfie does end up hanging them up- the Wings already have too many forwards and looks like Jurco will be stuck in the AHL because he can pass waivers (like Nyquist last season). Unless they actually end up making a trade....I'll believe it when I see it. |

Pittsburgh led the league in man games last year. U must mean including the lock out season. Injuries suck . So does quincey and cleary. Like another poster commented still waiting to see the wings OWN the east like all their fans said they would |

Laughs? Really? They have a full roster already. Why are they going to add Setoguchi? They have 4 mill in cap space and still need to sign Gardiner and add a 7th D. I know rumours don't always come true but my issue with rumours on this site is that they are baseless and easily proven to not happen. Setoguchi wont end up on the Leafs.
If anyone was to garb him I would say
Boston after Savard hit LTIR,
Washington could use one more Forward,
Carolina could use him,
Pens have 3 spots open Pyatt wont be back,
Detroit could be possible if Alfredsson does not return,
I wouldn't say a return to Winnipeg isn't out of the question and
Calgary would be an option.
These teams are looking for players, every other team will likely go into the season with what they got. |

So the Islanders have 16 forwards with only 14 spots but yet still trying to add unnecessary forwards in FA??? - brodydog29

Most of this I agree with. Aging is annoying to hear year after year. I think we can have a slightly better year if we stay healthy. Howard is much better than he gave us last year.
However I think we will have a challenge making the playoffs this year with our division. If we make it I would think it's again a wild card slot. Tampa Boston and Montreal all being better than us. It isn't impossible but I also think Washington and possibly Toronto have a better year coming and the blue jackets still being competitive, while we basically did nothing to improve our team. We would be banking solely on health, which is scary |

so...the flyers:
trade away richards and carter. both have 2 cups now
then they sign bryzgalov to the worst contract imaginable, and later buy him out.
they trade away bobrovsky who later wins a vezina
they trade jvr for schenn
yet somehow you think you can try and troll the leafs? nice try. |

"Since the lockout". Many are pointing to the Wings barely making the playoffs "since the lockout"- but aren't taking the whole picture into consideration. Sometimes the # of man games lost due to injury doesn't tell the whole story- in regards to who is injured and what that means to the team.
The Wings have been in the East one - yes 1- season. They were without their top guys for half of that season. Really?? I was never one who said such a thing, but seriously! Never mind injuries, I guess they aren't allowed any adjustment time to playing teams that they barely have seen/played against in years. |

Crosby has missed 2yrs with injury nobody gives anyone sympathy. Especially when for years wings fans would say how much tougher the west is imagine we played in the east |
