Yes. As he should...or at least counter if they want to actually get a deal done.
i don't think SJ is calling Edm initially. It is Edm getting SJ on the phone. Obviously SJ is going to highball. MacT will need to bring the price down - OilHorse
MacT would be nuts to offer much more than Edmontons 1st round pick in 2015 for a 35 year old Marleau. |

ive heard roenicks thoughts on him.
patty marleau has been one the two main cogs that have made san jose a perrenial contender for prob 7-8 years.
and he's had a fukload of playoff points.
many great players never get it done. many.
i think there's been a couple years that sj just flat out ran into a better team (vancouver, detroit, chicago etc) so the playoff 'choke' label hasnt always been applicable imo.
quiet leaders can be just as effective as loud ones as well. i hear us talk about how much we'd love to have joe, but at the same time say we're unsure of marleau cause san jose cant get it done...? we dont think marleau is more the problem than joe do we?
someone look up the numbers, but i think since theyve both been on the team, patty has outscored joe in the playoffs
fact is; if patty marleau was on our team, we're exponentially better - hugefemale dog77
just checked. i was mistaken
since 2005-06
joe - 82pts
patty - 72 pts
over 9 seasons, that's barely over a point a year, but nonetheless. |

just came off a 70 pt season. and didnt show any signs hes lost a step or his shot.
id certainly add in a solid prospect along with our first without much hesitation.
i think he'd make us a legit playoff contender. at the very least make us exponentially better.
im not sure if we can quantify how much wins and success would do for these kids and moving this rebuild to the next step, but id be willing to wager a ton.
certainly be more valuable to us than another high pick and a prospect imo.
another year of bottom feeding would be disastrous i think. i wouldnt at all be surprised to see some trade requests |

TBH. Edm needs to send some salary back. Marleau makes 6.6M, Edm wants to resign Schultz, getting Marleau means that they have 2Mish left.

Would you trade Schultz and Draisaitl for Marleau? |

i really dont think we could afford losing anyone outside maybe perron.
even then...
if it was to happen, they are getting picks/prospects and retooling. otherwise, it wouldnt make a ton of sense for us

Yeah but with Marleau's age I'd have to agree with him. |

That plus have to consider who and what team Marleau has been playing with the last several years. |

If were doing prospects a 1st rounder would have to be included. |

The team is weak enough on D, Justin may not be perfect but he still has a positive future in front of him. LD, a very bright future center for the team.
2015 1st (no protection) + Perron. |

What about Draisaitl straight up? Really we don't know if LD can give us even 1 year of what Marleau brings. |

I'm well aware of that. But if I'm SJ, and I want to rebuild I probably want LD. |
